Tropical storms Laura and Marco are headed for the Gulf Coast. This marks the first time since records have been kept that two names storms have been in the Gulf at the same time.
Seattle mayor Jenny Durkan just vetoed the budget the city council passed. The Seattle City Council moved to defund the police department by cutting $3.5 million in funding for the remainder of the 2020 budget, which would result in the lay off of 100 officers and SPD command leaders receiving a 40 percent salary cut. Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best quit over the proposed cuts.
Elise Stefanik, the rep for most of northern NY, will be delivering a primetime speech at the RNC this week. Her district abuts the one that I live in.
