Editors note: Today’s edition of the View from Here is up a little early. We are covering the Trump rally live from New Hampshire starting at the time this post usually gets published. Join us for the livestream starting at 1800 EDT.

Senator Rand Paul was attacked by rioters last night as he made his way home from the president’s acceptance speech. Now he’s calling for the FBI to investigate those behind the mayhem. Lest you think he’s making that call because of last night’s incident, he’s said the same before, if he was less vocal about it.

Six Democrat mayors from Minnesota have endorsed Donald Trump for president. A letter signed by Virginia Mayor Larry Cuffe, Chisholm Mayor John Champa, Ely Mayor Chuck Novak, Two Harbors Mayor Chris Swanson, Eveleth Mayor Robert Vlaisavljevich and Babbitt Mayor Andrea Zupancich laid out their reasoning. The letter read in part:

Like many in our region, we have voted for Democrats over many decades. We have watched as our constituents’ jobs left not only the Iron Range, but our country. By putting tariffs on our products and supporting bad trade deals, politicians like Joe Biden did nothing to help the working class. We lost thousands of jobs, and generations of young people have left the Iron Range in order to provide for their families with good paying jobs elsewhere. Today, we don’t recognize the Democratic Party. It has been moved so far to the left it can no longer claim to be advocates of the working class. The hard-working Minnesotans that built their lives and supported their families here on the Range have been abandoned by radical Democrats. We didn’t choose to leave the Democratic Party, the party left us. . . .

Ouch, that’s gonna leave a mark. . . .

Here’s some good news out of Portland. Billy Williams, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon, announced 74 indictments for people involved in the rioting there. From the DOJ press release:

“Violent agitators have hijacked any semblance of First Amendment protected activity, engaging in violent criminal acts and destruction of public safety,” said U.S. Attorney Williams. “The U.S. Attorney’s Office and our federal law enforcement partners are expeditiously working with local and state law enforcement to identify, arrest, and prosecute these individuals that are disrupting the rule of law in our communities and physically attacking our law enforcement officers and destroying property. Violent agitators not only delay real reform, but make our community less safe by keeping law enforcement from responding to other critical calls for service.”

Of note, 72 of the 74 indictments were for acts in July. The reason? The Oregon State Police took over on the 29th of July. As part of the agreement for the state to take over, the parks and other staging areas used by AntiFa/BLM had to be cleared. That happened by the beginning of August. Things that make you go hmmm. . . .

The US Marshalls Service’s Missing Child Unit rescued 26 missing children and located 13 more in a two week operation. Investigators said the children ranged in age from 3 to 17. The U.S. Marshals Service identified 15 of the children as being victims of sex trafficking.

“The U.S. Marshals Service is fully committed to assisting federal, state, and local agencies with locating and recovering endangered missing children, in addition to their primary fugitive apprehension mission,” said Director of the Marshals Service Donald Washington. “The message to missing children and their families is that we will never stop looking for you.”

I used to like Jim Gaffigan. He can be quite funny, but he went off the rails yesterday. In an expletive filled Twitter rant, the hot pockets guy decided enough was enough.

That’s just a sample. It gets worse. A lot worse. You should have stuck to observational humor Jim.
