New AP Stylebook Guidance

The AP has issued new guidance for it’s stylebook. Many major publishers utilize the stylebook as a way to ensure uniformity with their publication’s various writers.

The new guidance tries to dissuade writers from using “riot” when writing about violent protests and such.

This is the same stylebook that suggests capitalizing black when used to describe people. They’ve also issued guidance on the use of the word “looting”.

Not to worry, this editor and the rest of the authors here will still be using riot and looting where applicable. We have our own stylebook here at Milvets and Patriots. Nowhere does it restrict word choice.
