In the third quarter of 2020, the Pennsylvania Instant Check System completed 406,151 background checks, which is nearly double the volume completed during the same period last year. The highest previous total was set in the first quarter of 2013, when 369,807 background checks were conducted, according to the Pennsylvania State Police. I wonder why?
I don’t know who Chris Hayes is. Apparently he works for msnbc and has some show there. Frankly, I think he’d be well served to read a little history. Or maybe he already has. Those exact terms have been used before, and it didn’t end well.
I wrote about SCOTUS slapping down a US district court judge here. Well, I expect another to get the same short shrift pretty soon. Another US district court judge in Arizona just rewrote election law in that state. District Court Judge Steven Logan ordered Arizona extend it’s registration period until 23 October. The longstanding cutoff date is 5 October. Keep in mind, early voting in Arizona starts Wednesday.
While we’re on the subject of election related cases, it seems SCOTUS has an interest in what the PA Supreme Court did last week. The Court has sought and obtained briefing on the merits from both sides. The rules of SCOTUS are such that they can rule on the merits of the case when brought as an emergency hearing. Given the decision from today, I wouldn’t expect the PA Supreme Court decision to stand.
These kind of statements aren’t gaffes anymore, they’re a pattern of behavior, and a disturbing one. C’mon man. . . .
