On Friday, Tom Brokaw, formally announced his retirement from NBC News. He had been with the organization for 55 years.

From 1982 through 2004, he was the nightly anchor on the evening news as well as managing editor.

80 year old  Brokaw was born in South Dakota.

Mr. Brokaw had the following statement;

“During one of the most complex and consequential eras in American history, a new generation of NBC News journalists, producers and technicians is providing America with timely, insightful and critically important information, 24/7. I could not be more proud of them,”

Their journalist are certainly providing “insightful” information, mostly their personal insights.

As this author was involved in cooking and managing ProgenyE’s homework, I rarely saw the evening news. What I remember, with great humor, was an article he wrote for the New York Times about being the father of the bride. It was full of facts and great wit.
