It’s been a while since I laid out my thoughts and opinions for y’all, so here we go.
This first one is likely to upset some of you. The election is over, Donald Trump lost. Was there widespread fraud? Maybe, but honestly I haven’t seen any evidence proving there was enough fraud to tip the election. A couple of different statistical analyses point to what could possibly be called fraud in about 10 counties in four states, mostly comprising the four metro areas of Atlanta, Philly, Milwaukee and Phoenix. But those analyses aren’t proof of fraud and wouldn’t hold up in court.
It gets worse as far as I’m concerned. Between the President yelling fraud, Sidney Powell spouting off about krakens and that nut Lin Wood and all of his unhinged rhetoric, we lost the Senate. In case you missed it, Powell is being sued by Dominion voting systems for $1.3 billion and Wood has caught the attention of the Secret Service and FBI for his specific threats against Mike Pence.
And that brings us to the recent unpleasantness in the District. I’m not going to lay the blame for the riot and the storming of the Capitol building on Trump. At least not wholly. What’s being missed by almost everyone is the fact that he said to March to the Capitol and protest peacefully. That an element of the crowd started a riot isn’t on him, mostly.
And I suppose this is the place where I should condemn the riots and the storming of the Capitol building. Bear in mind, only a small number of the crowd at the White House rally rioted. I have it first hand that the rally itself was a typical Trump rally, slightly boisterous but polite and family friendly.
Perhaps it’s a result of the training I had in the military, or a natural reaction, I rarely jump to conclusions, especially when it’s a fraught situation like on the 6th. I’m glad I didn’t in this case. The FBI issued a statement today saying the initial investigation has shown that the violence at the Capitol was, at least in part, pre-planned. They have evidence that at least a portion of those involved in storming the Capitol left the White House rally early, presumably to grab prepositioned supplies. It gets better (or worse, depending on your POV), it seems despite what Apple, Google and Amazon said, almost none of the planning for the riots was done on Parler. It has come out that the vast majority was done on Facebook.
Unfortunately, that report wasn’t released until after the sham of an impeachment was rammed through the House. Donald Trump is now the only President to be impeached twice. While I do not have a crystal ball, nor can I read Tarot cards, I have a feeling that history will not treat either impeachment as being anything other than what they were, politically motivated hit jobs.
Liz Cheney, daughter of Dick Cheney, and representative from Wyoming is the third highest ranking republican in the House. Kinda like her daddy, Liz never met a military conflict she didn’t like. She was also the highest ranking of the ten Republicans to vote for impeachment. She needs to go. So do the rest of them, including the rep from my district, John Katko. At the very least they need to be stripped of all their committee positions and moved into the smallest, furthest away offices. If this Republic is going to survive the next 2 years (and I say two, because the midterms can tip the balance back in both the house and Senate) the Republican party needs to be 1000% disciplined, vote in lockstep and stay on message. That Liz and the other 9 thought they could vote the way they did on impeachment is a bad harbinger of things to come. Unless there are consequences for their actions that is.
I’m going to wrap this post up with this: Do not under any circumstances join any armed protests anywhere for any reason for the next few months. The left feels very emboldened right now, and they’re acting out all their Stalinist fantasies. If you feel the need to do something write your Congress-critter. Hell, call them. Make sure they know how you feel on each and every subject that you feel is important.
