The View from Here

Today’s featured image is of Tinker Falls. The falls are located within the Labrador Hollow Unique area near Truxton in Cortland county NY.

The Justice Department has announced they’re opening an investigation into the shooting of Ashli Babbitt. Babbitt was killed inside the Capitol building during the riots as she attempted to climb through a broken window. There are videos of the shooting available on the web if you care to seek them out. I watched both, and while I’m not an investigator, I struggle to see the justification for that shoot.

A group of teachers from heavily pro-Trump Jefferson County, WVa attend the stop the steal protest in DC. Now they’re being threatened with termination by the superintendent of schools there. Dr. Bondy Shay Gibson sent the teachers a letter instructing them to report to a meeting on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 where disciplinary action, including termination, will be discussed.

It’s getting quite fasc-y out there folks. . .

Johnathan Turley is a liberal law professor. He also calls them as he sees them, and is t afraid to go after his own side when they’re wrong. He called out the new impeachment push in an op-ed at the Hill. Among other salient details Turley points out that Trump never called for violence.

“Despite widespread, justified condemnation of his words, Trump never actually called for violence or a riot. Rather, he urged his supporters to march on the Capitol to express opposition to the certification of electoral votes and to support the challenges being made by some members of Congress. He expressly told his followers ‘to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.'”

That’s something even those on the right are missing. In the mad rush to virtue signal, all kinds of people who should know better are jumping to conclusions.

The assault on Parler continues. First Google removed the Parler app from the Google play store, then it was Apple doing the same. Now Amazon Web Services is kicking the platform off its servers. Amazon says the move was made for violating AWS’ terms of services by failing to effectively deal with a steady increase in violent content, according to an email by an AWS Trust and Safety team to Parler. AWS plans on disconnecting Parler at 2359 pst today.

Reps. Ken Buck (CO), Thomas Massie (KY), Tom McClintock (CA), Nancy Mace (SC), Chip Roy (TX), Kelly Armstrong (ND) and Mike Gallagher (WI) all signed into a letter sent to Joe Biden, asking him to intervene with Nancy Pelosi and stop the upcoming impeachment of President Trump.

I don’t see what good it’s going to do. Pelosi and the most rabid of her party have been trying to get Trump since before he was inaugurated.
