There are a bunch of somewhat interesting stories floating around today. However, none interest me enough to do an entire story, so I’m combining them into one.
Let’s start in Israel, where the islamoterrorists of Hamas launched 40 rockets into southern Israel from Gaza. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, except for the terrorists who were killed when the rocket they were attemting to fire landed in Gaza. The Iron Dome system intercepted the rockets that would have impacted in populated areas of Israel. In response, the IDF closed down the fishing grounds off Gaza to all fishing.
Staying in the Middle East, an interview with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif was leaked by a British news outlet. In the interview, Zarif admits the death of Qassem Solemani was a major blow to the Islamofacist country. He also ratted out John Kerry for giving him classified information about Israeli operations in Syria. We all knew that Kerry was simping for Iran, we just didn’t know it was that bad. Needless to say, the revelation will damage the US/Israeli relationship and that Lurch will walk away scot free.
In 2A news, SCOTUS has granted cert to a case out of NY. New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Corlett challenges the discretionary “may-issue” laws in place in New York and several other states. The question raised by the plaintiffs was whether the Second Amendment protected their right to carry a firearm outside of the home for self-defense, but the Court tweaked the question when it granted cert. Now, the Supreme Court will decide “whether the State’s denial of petitioners’ applications for concealed-carry licenses for self-defense violated the Second Amendment.” Fingers crossed. . . .
The 2020 census congressional re-apportionment is done. Texas gained two seats, Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, Montana, and Oregon each gained one seat. The losers were California, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia. Each of those states lost one seat. With redistricting for the 2022 congressional elections coming up, it’s reasonable to expect at least 4 new republican districts to be created; the two in Texas and one each in Florida and Montana.
Gavin Nuisance is on the hot seat. The petition to recall him has met the required number of signatures. There is a 30 day cooling off period, after which the Lt. Governor has to call a special election within 60-80 days. So, to all of our Californian friends, congrats and prepare yourselves for the onslaught of ads.
