Yesterday, United flight 328 bound for Hawaii from Denver international had an uncontained catastrophic failure of its right engine.
The Boeing 777-200 airliner had 210 passengers and 10 crewmembers aboard at the time of the incident. The plane successfully landed back at DIA shortly after the engine failure.
Debris from the incident was scattered over Bloomfield, a suburb of Denver. There are reports of some damage, but miraculously, no one was injured or killed.
I received this in my email. I am giving no attribution as there was none in the email. At any rate, enjoy!
THE NFL FOUND 23 ADDITIONAL POINTS FOR THE CHIEFS FROM MAIL-IN TOUCHDOWNS, AND, BASED ON OUTCRY FROM LIBERALS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY, HAS AWARDED THE SUPER BOWL WIN TO THE CHIEFS.
We all went to bed last Sunday at midnight thinking Tom Brady had won the Super Bowl. Now we read on the Internet that the Kansas City Chiefs scored 23 points at 4 amto beat the Tampa Bay Bucs 32-31.
A comment in the article stated:
There is “no evidence” that the 23 points at 4:00 am constituted cheating and even if there were evidence, these points do NOT constitute “widespread” cheating. Further, an elected official in Kansas City “certified” the victory by the Chiefs and the NFL front office went along with that certification. When Brady objected, he was told that he has “no standing” to complain.
All the media sports writers as a mob did a gang up and pile on and accused Brady of lying, bad sportsmanship, and hurting the NFL and said he should be quiet and go away.
Some hot dogs were thrown at the referees, and Brady was accused, but later video was found showing that the hot dogs were thrown by some Chiefs fans.
YouTube and Twitter removed all content about Brady and the game.
The NFL accused Brady of cheating and further declared that Brady should never play football again.

The “Love Gov” may finally be getting what he deserves. Andy Cuomo, who forced nursing homes to take covid patients, is currently under investigation by US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York and the FBI. The addition of the FBI to the mix indicates this has become a criminal investigation. It has come out in recent days that the Cuomo administration hid key data in an effort to forestall an request for data from the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. That folks is a crime.
It gets worse for Handy Andy. He reportedly made threats against a dem state legislator. Ron Kim is one of those accusing the governor of covering up information related to coronavirus deaths in nursing homes. He stated that Cuomo called him on several occasions, threatening to destroy his career if Kim did not lie for him. Now, there are members of his own party are calling for him to resign and there’s an impeachment push in the NYS legislature.
The most recent estimates of nursing home related WuFlu fatalities are above 15,000.
The temperatures in Texas have started to normalize. I just hope they don’t learn the wrong lessons from what happened. The cold snap that caused all the issues with travel and the power grid was a once in a century event. The entire situation was a series of cascading events that culminated in loss of electric service for millions.
A new Gallup poll shows trust in Big Tech is dropping. Fast. 45% of those surveyed said they had a negative view of the tech giants while 34% had a positive opinion of them, and 20% were neutral. Thats a significant decline from the last time Gallup asked about big tech in 2019 when 47% had a positive view. 57% of respondents said they thought the government needed to regulate those companies more.
I’m not a trust buster, but given the behavior of these companies, like FaceBook cancelling the entire continent of Australia, its past time to rein them in.
The Phoenix Police Department recently partnered with the City of Mesa Police Department, Tempe Police Department, Chandler Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the Attorney General’s Office for Operation Broken Hearts. The operation netted 37 arrests related to child sex crimes.
“Operation Broken Hearts was an undercover operation targeting sexual predators engaged in child sex crimes and human trafficking,” the Phoenix Police Department said in a statement. “Throughout the operational period, officers and undercover detectives placed ads on websites and apps which are commonly sought out by suspects seeking illegal sex acts with children.”
“These suspects solicited and/or brokered deals for various sex acts and were subsequently arrested,” the PPD said on Friday. “The combined efforts of the agencies involved, are part of a nationwide effort to eliminate human and sex trafficking.”
I’d be more than happy to deal with those sub-humans. Permanently.
Lurch is at it again. John Kerry is out with his latest climate alarmism. This time, we have all of 9 years left.
Uh, sure John. Can you point to anything you managed to predict correctly? Israeli-Arab peace deal? Nope. US embassy in Jerusalem? Nope. The list goes on.
Following conflicts over trade, technology, and capital markets, rising political tensions between the US and China will continue under the Biden administration.
For instance, the US Army is expected to equip its first unit with hypersonic equipment this fall. The Pentagon is far behind in the hypersonic races with China and Russia.
A hypersonic unit within the Army will begin training with all the equipment it needs to launch these new weapons, according to Lt. Gen. L. Neil Thurgood, director of the Army’s Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office, who spoke with Defense News.
Thurgood said the equipment will be delivered to the unit by September.
“By the end of this fiscal year, which is in September, all of the equipment that the unit needs plus training will be delivered to the unit,” he said.
The unit will be supplied with a vast number of launchers, trucks, trailers, computer systems, and other pieces of equipment to begin training in early 2022.
Thurgood declined to tell Defense News which unit will receive the equipment. He said the live round is the only piece of equipment that won’t be delivered this fall. It was noted that the weapon itself will be delivered in 2023.
Thurgood did not comment on the type of hypersonic weapon the unit will be receiving. However, we noted last March, the US Department of Defense (DoD) successfully launched a common hypersonic glide body (C-HGB) missile from the Pacific Missile Range Facility, Kauai, Hawaii.
The DoD has been allocating more funds to hypersonic programs for upcoming military budgets as it must desperately catch up with China and Russia.
Senator James Inhofe, a senior Republican from oil-producing Oklahoma and Senate Armed Services Chairman, told Defense News in 2019 that DoD’s hypersonic testing labs were inadequate. He said, “dilapidated testing infrastructure is holding us back from catching up to our enemies. Just look at hypersonic weapons: Beijing is parading around dozens of its newest weapons, and we have yet to build one.”
The US is in a hypersonic race with major global superpowers and is clearly behind the curve.

Why Are 96,000,000 Black Balls on This Reservoir?
I took a boat through 96 million black plastic balls on the Los Angeles reservoir to find out why they’re there. The first time I heard about shade balls the claim was they reduce evaporation. But it turns out this isn’t the reason they were introduced.
Huge thanks to LADWP for arranging this special tour for me. Next time let’s put the GoPro on the submersible!
The balls are made of high density polyethylene (HDPE) which is less dense than water so they float on the surface of the reservoir even if they break apart. They are 10cm (4 inches) in diameter and contain about 210ml of water. So the main reason they are on the reservoir is to block sunlight from entering the water and triggering a chemical reaction that turns harmless bromide into carcinogenic bromate. This effect occurs with prolonged exposure to bromate so regulators insist that levels be kept below 10 microgram per liter on average over a 12 month period.

Parallel Worlds Probably Exist. Here’s Why
The most elegant interpretation of quantum mechanics is the universe is constantly splitting A portion of this video was sponsored by Norton.
Special thanks to: Prof. Sean Carroll https://www.preposterousuniverse.com His book, a major source for this video is ‘Something Deeply Hidden: Quantum Worlds and The Emergence of Spacetime’ Code for solving the Schrödinger equation by Jonny Hyman available here: https://github.com/jonnyhyman/Quantum…
I learned quantum mechanics the traditional ‘Copenhagen Interpretation’ way. We can use the Schrödinger equation to solve for and evolve wave functions. Then we invoke wave-particle duality, in essence things we detect as particles can behave as waves when they aren’t interacting with anything. But when there is a measurement, the wave function collapses leaving us with a definite particle detection. If we repeat the experiment many times, we find the statistics of these results mirror the amplitude of the wave function squared. Hence the Born rule came into being, saying the wave function should be interpreted statistically, that our universe at the most fundamental scale is probabilistic rather than deterministic. This did not sit well with scientists like Einstein and Schrödinger who believed there must be more going on, perhaps ‘hidden variables’. In the 1950’s Hugh Everett proposed the Many Worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics. It is so logical in hindsight but with a bias towards the classical world, experiments and measurements to guide their thinking, it’s understandable why the founders of quantum theory didn’t come up with it. Rather than proposing different dynamics for measurement, Everett suggests that measurement is something that happens naturally in the course of quantum particles interacting with each other. The conclusion is inescapable. There is nothing special about measurement, it is just the observer becoming entangled with a wave function in a superposition. Since one observer can experience only their own branch, it appears as if the other possibilities have disappeared but in reality there is no reason why they could not still exist and just fail to interact with the other branches. This is caused by environmental decoherence.
How many of you got to lay around on Saturday watching cartoons while stuffin your face with pancakes
or the Captain Crunch
I have no idea to many I suspect
I only mention the Captain Crunch because it was like a treat
normally it was oatmeal or grits with a pinch of salt, tab of butter swimming in maple syrup

what she would do is
turn her wedding ring around so your head felt the rock

Now I see the ice and just smile
smiling is safer
Michelle Pfeiffer’s whip stunt in ‘Batman Returns’ gives Twitter whiplash
This sexy kitty looks like she could give Indiana Jones whiplash.
A clip of Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992’s “Batman Returns” is making its rounds on Twitter, with fans marveling over the DC Comic villainess’ prowess — namely her skills with a whip.
The clip, shared by Netflix social media manager Jarett Wieselman, shows Pfeiffer as Selina Kyle/Catwoman expertly knocking the heads off mannequins while filming a scene for the Tim Burton movie — which she famously did in one take.
“Reminder: Michelle Pfeiffer whipped the heads off those four mannequins IN ONE TAKE to thunderous applause from the Batman Returns crew,” he wrote along with the video, which has amassed nearly 1.5 million views in just four hours.
In fact, Pfeiffer famously did all her own stunts, according to The Hollywood Reporter, with the whip for the film, in which she starred alongside Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Danny DeVito as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin.
“She was better than her stunt people,” Burton told Rolling Stone in 1992. “She made the whip beautiful, kind of an art form.”
In that same interview, Pfeiffer, now 62, revealed she did months of training in yoga, gymnastics and kickboxing to prepare for the role and was even trained how to use the whip by Anthony De Longis, who also trained Harrison Ford to play Indiana Jones in that film franchise, according to The Wrap.
She’s still got it, too. The actress even brought out the original movie prop, posting it on Instagram in 2019 — and again in December 2020 during an interview. She also showed off her skills with the whip, writing: “Just like riding a bike.”

Comment: Ok, so I posted because, I’ve always thought of Pfeiffer as a pretty cool lady.
