Malarkey – Netflix

It would appear Netflix has learned a lesson from the Disney and Twitter fiascos as well as their own sinking status.

Daily Wire: “Netflix Fires Major Warning Shot At Its Woke Employees With New ‘Culture Memo’”

“A new corporate culture memo from Netflix is taking a hardline stance on attempts to silence artistic expression by warning those who are offended by the streaming service’s content that they may want to go find a job somewhere else.

“Variety reports that the change in Netflix’s company culture appears to be in large part due to the backlash the streaming service faced from woke employees last year over its Dave Chappelle special, which the employees claimed was transphobic.

“The updated Netflix Culture memo includes a new section called ‘Artistic Expression’ that states that it will not ‘censor specific artists or voices’ even if employees consider the content ‘harmful.’

“’If you’d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you,’ the memo states, later adding that employees may be required to work on projects that they ‘perceive to be harmful’ and that if they have a hard time accepting their work assignment, they might want to consider working somewhere else.”

“Netflix reportedly fired the leader of a trans organization within the company last October who allegedly organized a walkout to protest the company backing Chappelle over his special ‘The Closer.'”

NY Post: “Netflix tells ‘woke’ workers to quit if they are offended: ‘culture’”

“Netflix — which suffered a loss of 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2022, and expects to see an additional decrease of a whopping 2 million audience members over the next four months — also urged employees to ‘spend our members’ money wisely’ in the ‘Valued Behaviors‘ section of the document.

“Elsewhere, the newsletter reminded laborers that the company does notintend to treat workers like ‘family‘ members but rather like lionhearted sportsmen on an award-winning athletic ‘dream team‘ — one on which any player can easily be benched or booted.

“‘We model ourselves on being a professional sports team, not a family,’ wrote Netflix. ‘A family is about unconditional love. A dream team is about pushing yourself to be the best possible teammate, caring intensely about your team, and knowing that you may not be on the team forever.’

“The bulletin also reminded peeved employees, ‘Dream teams are not right for everyone.'”

This is what happens when a company fails to inform employees their personal political opinions do not determine company policy. They find themselves having to recover from allowing such personal political opinions to severely impact their business.
