Miner’s Castle in winter
A search mission will resume Wednesday in Lake Superior for an ice climber missing near Miners Castle at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
According to the National Park Service, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore received a 911 report at approximately 5:15 p.m. Tuesday that an ice climber fell from the Miners Castle cliff formation.
Miners Castle is located about 5 miles east of Munising on Alger County Road H-58, then 6 miles north on Miners Castle Road (H-11). It is one of the most famous landmarks along the Pictured Rocks shoreline and is the only cliff area in the park accessible by vehicle. In the winter, it is only accessible by snowmobile as Miners Castle Road is not plowed.
Some good fishing over there, along with under-tow
Thinking the Coasties will be very lucky to find the body.
I took a digger couple weeks back, after tripping and doing some rolling I landed against a sharp limb, feel real good in the back, I know now how meat on a stick feels. Laying there thinking, no body gonna find me till spring and that’s if they are lucky, no comes back here, I did once have some crazed anti hunter come around but that was years ago. Maybe some lost shroomers might stumble across me in spring when the Morals are up. I didn’t see crows circling over head which are the eyes of Wolf in the sky, those 2 are very old friends
