The headline is not hyperbole. The Colorado Education Association has actually adopted a resolution committing the organization to fight capitalism as a fundamentally exploitative economic system that must be destroyed.
The Colorado Education Association is the state’s affiliate to the National Education Association, the country’s largest teachers’ union. The NEA has long been a left-wing organization utterly unconcerned with the actual education of students, but in the past, it has at least claimed that its goal was at least marginally related to education.
Now it is a full-blown admitted communist front group. At least they admitted it in Colorado.
A final version of the resolution that was passed states that “CEA believes that capitalism requires exploitation of children, public schools, land, labor, and/or resources. Capitalism is in opposition to fully addressing systemic racism (the school to prison pipeline), climate change, patriarchy, (gender and LGBTQ disparities), education inequality, and income inequality.”
Lots of conservatives have been shouting from the rooftops that public employee unions, and in particular the teachers’ unions, exist mainly as front groups for Left-wingers to undermine our society.
We are scoffed at. We are told that unions exist to protect workers and improve public services. We are conspiracy theorists when we claim they aim to destroy our society.
Ha! What crap.
BREAKING: @ColoradoEA (CO’s largest union of over 39,000 education workers) just ratified a resolution (by @Bryan4Aurora) against capitalism as an economic system at our 2023 Delegate Assembly.

CEA may now publicly advocate & lobby for anti-capitalist policies at the CO Capitol.
You have to love how a teacher believes “bareable” is the correct spelling. And the grammar…
Perhaps Colorado teachers are so focused on economic and social justice because they are utterly incapable of actually teaching students things like reading, writing, and arithmetic. Teachers outright abandoned students during the pandemic, and the already poor performance of students declined dramatically since the pandemic.
State assessment results show significant catch-up work remains for Colorado students to perform at grade level after the pandemic, and that historically underserved populations of students, particularly English learners, were disproportionately impacted by the disruptions in learning. While many scores improved over 2021, the percent of students performing at or above grade level was down from 2019 across almost all grades and subject areas.
The sharpest drop in achievement happened in ninth-grade math, where the percentage of ninth-graders who met or exceeded expectations on the PSAT fell 8.8 percentage points from 2019.
Roughly 4 in 10 ninth-graders met expectations in math, and more than 6 in 10 meet expectations in evidence-based reading and writing. In the third grade, roughly 4 in 10 students meet expectations in both reading and math.
Yep. Capitalism did that. It has nothing to do with the fact that the teachers are focused on destroying the capitalist system and replacing it with an ideology that would appeal to Hugo Chavez, although even he would balk at transgender ideology. That is a new twist to enhance the destruction of Western civilization.
Unsurprisingly there was an involved discussion about how, exactly, the resolution against capitalism would be worded. At their convention, the delegates were presented with an even more elaborate resolution that was clarified in the final product.
The CEA at first tried to hide the fact that they had adopted this resolution, but when a screenshot of the original proposal was sent to them they admitted that a version had been adopted.
The Colorado Education Association finally has provided The Lion with the language of the Marxist resolution its membership approved at a recent assembly.
Previously, the CEA refused to disclose the resolution, citing “process” and privacy concerns.
After the original story appeared in The Lion – which included a denunciation of the Marxist plank by Colorado state Sen. Mark Baisley, R-District 4 – a former federal official sent The Lion a screenshot of the original resolution.
You have to love that “privacy” dodge. This was adopted at their convention, for God’s sake, as the official position of the union. Nothing like trying to keep your plan to destroy our society secret.
Make no mistake: this is not some fringe group or blue-haired teacher on TikTok. This is the official position of the Colorado Teachers’ Union. They have committed themselves to communist activism.
And they are the state-employed teachers in our public schools.
God help us.
