Charlie Kirk Assassination: What We Know

We started our coverage of the assassination of Charlie Kirk here yesterday. When that piece first went up, about 15 minutes after the shooting occurred, details were scant and speculation rampant.

Let’s start with a little about the man himself. Charlie was born in a Chicago suburb, Arlington Heights, and raised in nearby Prospect Heights. He became politically active while in high school, volunteering for the successful U.S. Senate campaign of Illinois Republican Mark Kirk.

He went on to co-found Turning Point USA in 2012. Since then, he has been the face of the grass-roots Republican organization. Charlie married Erika Frantzve in 2021 and the couple had two children.

The President has announced he is awarding Charlie the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Now, on to the news. I am going to preemptively caveat everything that follows. This is an ongoing investigation and what may be considered fact now may prove to be completely wrong later.

Despite all the reporting yesterday, there is still no shooter in custody. It seems though, that the rifle used in the shooting has been recovered in a wooded area near the campus. It is being reported as being an “older model .30 caliber hunting rifle” and that the ammunition recovered at the same time was marked with pro-trans and anti-fascist slogans.

You may see some reference to the rifle being a ‘Mauser’ and that may be the case. However, I feel it is germane to the discussion to tell you that the rifle Oswald used was described as a ‘Mauser’ until it wasn’t. As much as I wish it otherwise, the majority of FBI – and ATF agents for that matter – do not know their assholes from their elbows when it comes to guns. That goes for the vast majority of local cops as well.

The FBI held a presser this morning to discuss their (lack of) progress in the case. They seem to have gotten shoe prints, a palm print, a forearm impression and some video footage of the suspect leaving the area. They describe the shooter as ‘college-aged’.

They have released an image of a ‘person of interest’ they need the public’s help with.

Hopefully we find out they caught this person sooner rather than later.

Now on to some of the aftermath of the shooting.

Some ghoulish lefty tried to disrupt a prayer vigil for Charlie last night. He got his ass beat and arrested for his troubles.

I expect we’ll see a lot more of this kind of thing going forward. I don’t think the left realizes exactly what they created with this. Charlie is now a martyr and a symbol. And powerful ones at that.
