Random News and Notes 16 September

As we pass the mid-point of September, I trust that y’all are preparing. As Ned Stark said: Winter Is Coming.

On to the news. . .

We start out with a piece concerning my beloved Army. AR 670-1 has been revised. Again. This time seems to be for the better. Most of the Biden era standards have been recinded. This is a Good Thing™.

Under the Autopen, grooming standards had been relaxed quite a bit. Mostly for female troops – and those who “identified” as such. The news standards ban the ponytail with dress uniforms and highlight colors for female hair. Male hair standards have been made more clear as well: 2″ on top, 1″ on the sides presenting a tapered appearance.

This revision also seems to end the wear of the black beret. The black beret is no longer authorized for wear with the AGSU (the new pinks and greens). It had been banned from wear with the ACU for a while now.

To prove my lack of service bias, I give you this story about the Navy. The President announced that another drug-runner boat has been deleted off the coast of Venezuela.

The Truth Social post reads:
This morning, on my Orders, U.S. Military Forces conducted a SECOND Kinetic Strike against positively identified, extraordinarily violent drug trafficking cartels and narcoterrorists in the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility. The Strike occurred while these confirmed narcoterrorists from Venezuela were in International Waters transporting illegal narcotics (A DEADLY WEAPON POISONING AMERICANS!) headed to the U.S.
These extremely violent drug trafficking cartels POSE A THREAT to U.S. National Security, Foreign Policy, and vital U.S. Interests. The Strike resulted in 3 male terrorists killed in action. No U.S. Forces were harmed in this Strike. BE WARNED — IF YOU ARE TRANSPORTING DRUGS THAT CAN KILL AMERICANS, WE ARE HUNTING YOU! The illicit activities by these cartels have wrought DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES ON AMERICAN COMMUNITIES FOR DECADES, killing millions of American Citizens. NO LONGER. Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!

Go squids!

I have a sad note to pass along. Actor, director and producer Robert Redford has died. His career spanned iconic roles in films like “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” “The Sting,” and “All the President’s Men,” an Oscar win for directing “Ordinary People,” and the founding of the Sundance Institute in 1981.

While he was a flaming lefty, he was one hell of an actor, good enough to make me forget he was a flaming lefty.

Requiescat in pace.

Y’all remember that old dude who we all thought was the Charlie Kirk shooter at first? The one that the police carried away from the scene cuffed up? George Zinn? Yeah him. Well there’s some news about him today.

It seems he was trying to help the real shooter escape. As I said in the comments of the original post about Charlie being shot, Zinn managed to get himself arrested at other events. This time though, he is facing obstruction charges.

Zinn had no connection to the shooter at all. He reportedly told police he claimed to be the shooter to give the actual assassin time to escape.

A resolution has been filed in the House that would strip Ilhan Omar (C-Mogadishu) of all her committee positions. Omar had some foul things to say about the murder of Charlie Kirk. When confronted about them she doubled down.

This is a good start. Her pals on the squad all deserve the same.

In my ongoing effort to keep you up to date on who got fired for celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk I bring you Army Reserve Major Bryan Bintliff. Bintliff, who is also an ‘actor” who goes by Bryan Harlow ran his mouth about the killing and went a step further and threatened to kill Stephen Miller.

He is now suspended and under investigation. Hopefully he’s looking at the Big Chicken Dinner.

On the Civvy side we have Chris Hull. Chris was the production manager at WDEF, the CBS affiliate in Chattanooga.
