Random News and Notes 17 October

We start out this edition of RNN on a sad note. Ace Frehley, Spaceman and guitarist for the band KISS has died. Frehley was part of the original lineup of the band but left in 1982. He later returned to the band in the 90s.

Frehley was hospitalized and on life support after a fall at home. He died October 16 aged 74.

Requiescat in pace.

Hezbollah, the Islamist group that used to run Lebanon decided it was a good time to rearm. Israel thought otherwise and made their feelings known yesterday. By bombing an arms/ammo dump in the Bekaa valley.

It is pretty apparent that Mossad has the Hezb leadership thoroughly penetrated and know more about the terror group than they do themselves.

An interesting thing happened in the military over the last 24 hours. Admiral Alvin Holsey resigned. Holsey, a four star, had been appointed as USSOUTHCOM commander in November 2024. Those assignments typically last 3-4 years. To retire after one is – barring some personal emergency – unheard of.

. . . highest standards of naval leadership since his commissioning through the NROTC program at Morehouse College in 1988.
Throughout his career—from commanding helicopter squadrons to leading Carrier Strike Group One and standing up the International Maritime Security Construct—Admiral Holsey has demonstrated unwavering commitment to mission, people, and nation. His tenure as Military Deputy Commander and now Commander of United States Southern Command reflects a legacy of operational excellence and strategic vision.
The Department thanks Admiral Holsey for his decades of service to our country, and we wish him and his family continued success and fulfillment in the years ahead.

As I looked into this, I found that the good admiral was head of the Task Force One Navy, which was the Navy DEI program. I have to wonder if this was a retirement or a retirement. If pushed, I’d say he was forced out, likely over his adherence to DEI.

There were two debates last night. First up was the debate between Virginia Attorney General candidates. Incumbent R AG Jason Miyares took on Dem challenger Jay Jones. You may remember Jones as the one who wished death on a political opponent and his children. He also espoused the desire to “piss on their graves”. Miyares took Jones to the woodshed:

. . .Were you protecting Jennifer’s children, when you said you wanted to see them DIE in their mother’s arms?!”
“How can ANYBODY who’s ever worked in any of the crimes against children, all of the areas of federal and state local law department, how can they ever take YOU seriously, be the top prosecutor, knowing that you view that children should DIE to advance a political agenda?”
“It’s unconscionable, and if you were truly ‘sorry,’ you would not be running for this office – because you disqualified yourself.”

Polling taken after this scandal broke shows Miyares up by a point. I think this debate will increase that lead.

The second debate was for the NYC mayoral race. Curtis Sliwa, Andrew Cuomo and Zohran Mandami faced off. Unlike the VA debate, there was no clear winner. Cuomo and Sliwa both hit Mandami over his support for Hamas.

I have mentioned this before, but it bears repeating. While the NYC mayor is an important position, the NY governor can reach down from Albany and take over fairly large parts of City governance. This is due to past corruption and misrule.

Regardless, NYC is about to enter the find out portion of the equation.

I told you about the FBI raids on John Bolton’s home and office when they happened. Well, the former Trump NSA has been indicted by a Maryland jury on 18 counts of retaining and transmitting national security information. He surrendered himself to federal authorities this morning.

This investigation started after he published his book in 2021, under the Autopen. The Biden DOJ slow-walked it and it ramped back up under Trump. This is not a partisan witch hunt despite what Bolton says.

It is day 17 of the Schumer Shutdown. There was another vote last night in the Senate. It failed. Why? Because the retards at the DNC think this helps them. It does not. Polling shows the majority of Americans blame the Dems for the shutdown.

Keep in mind, the CR on the table only extends current spending levels long enough to complete the regular 12 spending bills. The fight over healthcare for illegals can wait a few weeks. Or would be able to if Chuck and Temu Obama weren’t fending off attacks from their left.
