Random News and Notes 26 November
Tomorrow is Turkey Day. We here at MVAP wish each and everyone of you a happy and enjoyable Thanksgiving. Hopefully your bird – if you’re having one – is thawed.
Speaking of birds, if you are deep frying please be careful.
I realize this is a demonstration, but I have seen deep fryer disasters like that in person.
Now onto the news.
Washington DC mayor Muriel Bowser has announced she is not running for a 4th term. Bowser has been mayor since 2015.
In fairness, Bowser is not even close to being the worst mayor of the District of Columbia. That honor goes to drunken cokehead Marion Barry.
It is looking like there is a coup underway in Guinea Bissau. The country is/was awaiting the results of a presidential election. Both the incumbent Umaro Sissoco Embaló and challenger Fernando Dias da Costa are claiming victory.
. . .was organized by the army’s Chief of General Staff.
Guinea-Bissau’s military has announced the closure of all borders, AFP reports.

Guinea-Bissau – wedged between Senegal and Guinea on the west coast of Africa – has experienced four coups d’état and a multitude of coup attempts since its independence in 1974.
There was a strongman/woman competition held recently. A dude ‘won’ the women’s division. The sanctioning body, Strongman Games World Championships, stripped Jammie Booker’s title after immense backlash over a dude winning the women’s division.
I do not buy for a second that officials from the Strongman Games World Championships were not aware Booker is a man. Just watch the face of the 2nd place finisher Andrea Thompson. She knows Booker is a dude and is disgusted by it.
