This week we have another of my favorite Modern Christmas songs. Christmas Wrapping by the Waitresses was released in the US in 1981. The band was a short-lived project, they only lasted 4 years and 3 albums. Their biggest hit was 1980’s I Know What Boys Like.
Christmas Wrapping is told from the perspective of a busy single woman adamant not to participate in the exhausting Christmas season. On Christmas Eve, she runs to a grocery store to buy cranberries, where she meets an attractive man she has been interested in for a year, bringing her Christmas “to a very happy ending”.
