Random News and Notes 17 December
Today is the 4th night of Hanukkah. Hanukkah Sameach! to our members of the tribe.
There are also only 8 shopping days left until Christmas. Good luck. . .
We start today’s RNN in DC where the President just ratcheted up the pressure on a lot of bad actors around the world. He announced a “total and complete” blockade of sanctioned oil tankers going into and out of Venezuela.
This comes on the heels of the White House designating fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction.
Additionally, the Navy seized the MT Skipper a few days ago. The supertanker was subject to an arrest warrant (yes, that is the correct term, it’s Admiralty law and a bit funky) for sanctions busting behavior. The skipper was one of hundreds of so-called dark fleet tankers shipping sanctioned oil around the world, mostly to China.
In a surprising move, a federal judge did not block the Trump White House ballroom project. District court judge Richard Leon declined to issue a preliminary injunction on behalf off the Trust for Historic Preservation yesterday. The injunction would have halted all construction on the former site of the East Wing, a 1943 office block.
The project is being funded exclusively through private donations.
We’re getting some more info on the Bondi Beach massacre. First up, one cop shot both of the subhumans, killing one and wounding the other. All well and good, and kudos to that man, but fuck me, it took them 20 minutes to engage. There are numerous pictures and videos of female officers cowering behind cars and walls while the shooting was going on.
It gets worse though if you can believe it. A bystander kicked the gun away from one of the shooters after detective Barazza took him out. Video seems to show the shooter reaching for the gun after going down. This bystander then puts his hands in the air and starts to back away from both the dying shooter and the gun when – several seconds later – the cops shoot him. If you have seen the video of the guy getting head stomped, well the stompee is the innocent bystander.
Look, I understand all about high-stress situations like that, but to shoot an unarmed man who poses no threat and actually helped the situation? Yeah, nah.
This next item happened over the weekend but just broke today for some reason. A Syrian asylum seeker in Germany tried to shoot up a nightclub in Leipzig on Saturday after being denied entry. 27-year-old Bashar A. (the Krauts refuse to release full names of criminal offenders on humanitarian grounds) pulled an AK out of a bag and was almost immediately tackled by security.
The best part? He’s been released on bail already. Die Polizei arrested him quickly, and found another weapon at his apartment. He is under investigation for threats and illegal carry.Yet the courts released him deeming the crimes not serious enough.
