It’s FriYAY! Time to cut loose a little.

Quick note about the critter in today’s featured image. Back in January, a Chinese tourist in Xinjiang decided she wanted a selfie with a snow leopard that was sunning itself. As she approached the cat decided it wanted nothing to do with the woman and mauled her. According to reports, she was bitten on her face and needed reconstructive surgery. The image below was taken just as the snow leopard pounced and seized.

This Friday’s musical selection is another St. Paddy’s related tune. It is also another Rebel song. The Broad Black Brimmer was written by Art McMillen and first recorded in 1972. The song tells the story of a boy whose father died before he was born, fighting in the Irish Republican Army. The narrator is asked by his mother to try on his father’s old uniform and as he does so, she tells his father’s story. The title refers to the wide brimmed hat worn by many IRA guerrillas in the 1920s Irish War of Independence and Irish Civil War.
