Random News and Notes 30 March

Welcome to the penultimate March edition of RNN. We start at Camp Pendleton where Corporal Andrew Paul Amarillas, 23, got busted for stealing err appropriating a bunch of stuff from the Corps. What did he take? Well, lets see, some FGM-148 Javelin missiles, 66 cans of M-855 ball ammo, and a bunch of other stuff.

Text messages show him offering the items to contacts, who resold them in Arizona to company executives; federal agents later recovered one missile and about a third of the ammo. He was arrested March 5, 2026, in Virginia before an embassy posting, he pleaded not guilty and remains in custody due to flight risk concerns.

The California Tax Board is insane. They sent a notice demanding proof of a couple leaving the state. The January 6, 2026 notice targets the couple’s non-resident tax return, requiring detailed evidence such as employment records, canceled checks to movers, and new-state documents to confirm residency change.

While we are being told audits like this are routine for the FTB, they have ramped up considerably amid California’s high out-migration, focusing on remote workers and high earners heading to no-tax states like Florida and Texas.

The Boston ICE office announced the arrest of Clemilson De Souza, a criminal illegal alien from Brazil, on March 12. De Souza had been indicted in Plymouth Superior Court on two counts of aggravated rape of a child and one count of indecent assault and battery on a child.

He needs to be deported via Videla airways. If you don’t get the reference, hit up the Google machine.

Epic Fury News

In a Truth Social post, President Trump said the U.S. is talking with a potential new Iranian regime to end the war that began February 28, 2026.

I’m not sure who he could be talking to. As far as I know, there are only a handful of prewar IRGC leaders left, and most of them are in hiding. The political leadership were figureheads at the best of times, and have been completely sidelined at this point. I hope there is progress, but I am not holding my breath.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio made an appearance on the Sunday shows yesterday. He laid out the goals of Epic Fury.

He also dropped a couple of ‘red lines’. One of them involved Iran controlling the Strait of Hormuz and installing some sort of toll system.

I really do not understand what Iran is trying to do with the attacks on its co-religionists in the region. According to Al Arabiya, they have launched nearly 4x the number of missiles at the Gulf States as they have at Israel. The number of drones is even worse, at 10x the number.

A fair few of the countries in the region have expelled senior Iranian diplomatic staff over the attacks.
