Random News and Notes 6 March

We start today with a few notes out of Texas. First, today in 1836 was the last day of the Battle of the Alamo. After a 13 day siege, in the early morning hours of March 6, the Mexican Army advanced on the Alamo. After repelling two attacks, the Texians were unable to fend off a third attack. The walls of the mission were breached and the defenders put to the sword. Among those killed were William Travis, Jim Bowie and David Crockett.

Santa Anna’s no quarter order backfired. Texian resistance stiffened and on the afternoon of April 21 the Texian army attacked Santa Anna’s camp near Lynchburg Ferry. The Mexican army was taken by surprise, and the Battle of San Jacinto was essentially over after 18 minutes. During the fighting, many of the Texian soldiers repeatedly cried “Remember the Alamo!” as they slaughtered fleeing Mexican troops.

GunTuber Brandon Herrera is going to be the Republican candidate for Congress in Texas’ 23rd district. Incumbent Tony Gonzales dropped out of the run-off. Gonzales was embroiled in a scandal involving an affair with a staffer who ended up killing herself over it.

Herrera will face Dem Katy Padilla Stout in the general election in the safely Republican district Trump won by 12 points in 2024.

The other Texas note today involves a Bexar county judge, Rosie Speedlin-Gonzalez. Yeah that is her name. Speedlin-Gonzalez, Bexar County, Texas’ first openly gay judge, lost her reelection following an indictment for abusing her authority by ordering defense attorney Elizabeth Russell handcuffed and detained during courtroom proceedings.

She faces a felony charge of unlawful restraint by a judge and a misdemeanor charge of official oppression. The indictment led to her suspension without pay while the case proceeds.

This is old-ish news at this point, but it needs to be covered here anyway. Kristi Noem is out at DHS effective 31 March. She will be replaced by Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin. Noem has had a scandal-plagued tenure at DHS. Not all of it was her fault, but the departmental buck stops at the Secretary’s desk.

It seems the final straw was Noem’s insistence that President Trump authorized the $220 million spent on an ad campaign. Don’t fret for Kristi though, she’s going to be Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas – Western Hemisphere. And before you ask, no I don’t know what that is.

Epic Fury News

President Trump posted a demand on Truth Social, insisting on Iran’s unconditional surrender followed by a leadership change, then promising U.S.-led rebuilding to ‘Make Iran Great Again (MIGA!)’. The demand comes as U.S. and Israeli strikes target Tehran’s nuclear sites, missile facilities, and more.

I understand, but cannot independently confirm, that what is left of the Iranian leadership was looking to make a deal to stay in power and that is what prompted the Truth from the President.

CENTCOM continues to release excellent combat footage on Xitter. Here are a couple of the latest.

It should be noted that US airpower is now hunting individual ballistic missile TELs (transporter, erector, launcher) and blowing them up before they can launch.

While that post was made in the last 18 hours, the footage is old. That vessel – the IRIS Shahid Bagheri – has been resting on the bottom for a day or two already.

The IDF released some footage of strike on the regime leadership bunker complex in Tehran.

It must be really dangerous to be a regime official in Iran these days. This isn’t the first image I have seen of some wanna-be tough guy dressed up like a woman.

The Basij are an Islamic paramilitary Force the Ayatollahs use to keep the non-muslim population in Iran cowed. When the regime collapses, and I think it’s close, you will see lots of score settling with the Basij. I expect most will wind up dead in some fashion.
