Today is Jackie Robinson day. It marks Jackie’s MLB debut in 1947. Robinson was the first black player in the league. #42 would go on to hit a gaudy career slash of .313/.410/.477. He had 141 homers and 761 RBI in his 9 year career.

Jackie was Rookie of the Year (1947), 6× All-Star (1949–1954), World Series champion (1955), NL MVP (1949), NL batting champion (1949), NAL home run leader (1945), 2× NL stolen base leader (1947, 1949). He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on 23 July 1962.

On this date in 1912, the RMS Titanic hit an iceberg and sank taking some 1500 people to the bottom with her. One of the largest and fastest vessels of its day, Titanic was considered unsinkable and had far fewer lifeboats than were necessary. And because the designers and the idiots at the White Star line couldn’t be assed to have enough lifeboats, 85 years later we got one of the most retarded movies ever made.

Also on this date, albeit in 1998, another communist became a good communist. Cambodian strongman Pol Pot – leader of the Khmer Rouge – died in his sleep. Between 1975 and 1978, an estimated two million Cambodians died by execution, forced labor, and famine under Pol Pot’s direction. In 1979, the Vietnamese invaded, deposed Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge and installed a ‘moderate’ communist government. Pot and the Khmer retreated into the jungle and waged a low intensity guerilla war against the Phnom Penh government.

We start with a story out of Nebraska where police were forced to shoot and kill a woman who had abducted a toddler. On Tuesday morning, 31-year-old Noemi Guzman stole a kitchen knife from the store, grabbed a shopping cart with the boy inside, and dragged it to the parking lot while forcing his mother ahead. When police arrived and ordered her to drop the blade, she slashed the child’s face, prompting officers to shoot and kill her at the scene.

The boy underwent surgery and is recovering, while Police Chief Todd Schmaderer commended the officers for their quick action to save the child. Guzman had a violent history, including stabbing her father and threatening a priest, after which she was released in 2025 under a treatment plan following an insanity ruling.

We really need to bring back lunatic asylums. That crazy bitch shouldn’t have been out on the streets and wouldn’t have been in a sane society.

This next one is in a similar vein. Newly-released surveillance video shows a high school principal from Pauls Valley High School in Oklahoma, Kirk Moore, tackling a would-be school shooter. On April 7, 2026, 20-year-old former student Victor Lee Hawkins entered Pauls Valley High School armed with two stolen pistols, yelling for people to get down and firing at students—shots that missed or malfunctioned. Moore rushed from his office, wrestled away the gun after being shot in the leg, and pinned Hawkins down with two staff members until police arrived.

No students were hurt, Moore recovered after surgery, and officials praised his heroism that prevented a worse outcome. Hawkins confessed to targeting Moore, inspired by Columbine, and faces serious charges.

I am waiting on the announcement that the shooter was deep into autoparts ideology or had some other serious, diagnosed mental illness.

This one probably won’t interest most of you, but because this editor is terminally on-line here goes. Streamer Ramsey Khalid Ismael, known as Johnny Somali was convicted of several crimes in the Republic of Korea. The charges included obstruction of business, minor public order violations, and distributing sexually explicit deepfakes. He got 6 months at hard labor in a ROK prison camp, 20 days of additional detention and sex offender status in the ROK.

I have zero issues with this. I have long said if you do a crime in another country you need to do the time. I am not talking about politically motivated charges, those should never stand, but actual crimes.
