• 1403 – King Henry IV defeats rebel forces under Harry ‘hotspur’ Percy at the Battle of Shrewsbury. This victory cemented the throne for the Lancastrian kings.
• 1667 – The Peace of Breda ends the Second Anglo-Dutch War and cedes Dutch New Amsterdam (New York) to the English.
• 1773 – Pope Clement XIV abolishes the Jesuit order. The suppression would persist until Pope Pius VII officially restored them worldwide in 1814
• 1789 – Napoleon defeats the Arab Mamluk Army at the Battle of the Pyramids.
• 1861 – In the first major battle of the Civil War, Confederate forces defeat the Union Army along Bull Run near Manassas Junction, Virginia. The battle becomes known as Manassas by the Confederates, while the Union calls it Bull Run.
• 1865 – Wild Bill Hickok kills gunman Dave Tutt in Springfield, Missouri, in what is regarded as the first formal quick-draw duel.
• 1925 – The Scopes monkey trial comes to a close. High school teacher John Scopes is found guilty for teaching evolution in Dayton, Tenn., and is fined $100.
• 1941 – France surrenders control of Indochina to the Japanese.
• 1944 – US Marines land on Guam. Nearly 3 weeks later, the 225 square mile island is declared secure. There were still some 7000 Japanese troops roaming free though.
• 1954 – The French sign an armistice with the Viet Minh that ends the war but divides Vietnam into two countries.
• 1970 – After 11 years of construction, the Aswan High Dam is completed. The Aswan High Dam brought the Nile’s devastating floods to an end, reclaimed more than 100,000 acres of desert land for cultivation, and made additional crops possible on some 800,000 other acres. The dam’s 12 turbines produce as much as 10 billion kilowatt-hours annually.

Brandon Ortiz-Vite, an illegal who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Ruby Garcia’s 2024 roadside death near Grand Rapids Michigan, filed a federal lawsuit last week against President Trump and aide Steven Cheung. He argues the use of his mugshot in ads, shown during Detroit Lions games, belittled him by highlighting his race, crime, and immigration status.

He is seeking $75.5 million in damages, counseling, a public apology, and even U.S. naturalization.

Let’s be clear, this suit is not going anywhere. Dummy hand wrote the complaint and filed it pro-se. Monetary claims aside, citizenship is not on the table as a remedy, no court – including SCOTUS – can force INS to naturalize someone.

From the MVAP wildlife department, we have a story out of California. A drone operator, Carlos Gauna, filmed a white shark approaching the beach from deeper water before it turned away, prompting lifeguards to clear the beach. White shark sightings are common in summer due to warmer waters and seal migrations.

Daniel Ortega is the Marxist President of Nicaragua. He has held that position since 2007. He just announced that there will be no more elections in Nicaragua.

Following his last win in 2021, Ortega banned all opposition parties and jailed their leadership.

Two Greek-American tourists, a man and a woman, were stabbed around 8 a.m. local time Tuesday on a pedestrian street by the Acropolis entrance. A suspect is in custody but other than an approximate age – ~60 – and the fact that he was known to authorities no other details have been released.

I fully expect this to be another proof of Coulter’s Law. Coulter’s Law is a political observation asserting that the longer it takes the media to identify a criminal, the less likely it is to be a white male.
