• 1492 – Christopher Columbus departs Spanish port of Palos on his first voyage to the new world.

• 1795 – The United States and Northwest Indian Federation, a confederacy of tribal nations from the eastern Great Lakes region, sign the Treaty of Greenville, pausing two decades of hostility over territory disputes. The Federation was comprised mostly of Shawnee, Delaware, Iroquois, Ottawa, Ojibwa and Miami nations.
• 1807 – The trial of Aaron Burr begins. He is accused of plotting the secession of New England.

We start the news with an update on the shooting in Twin Falls Idaho. The shooter has been identified as Chad Williams, 24 of Twin Falls. Police are reporting that the shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A second good samaritan has also been identified. Austin “AJ” Scott James, an off-duty Twin Falls police officer, engaged the shooter during the attack and was struck by return fire. He is reportedly hospitalized.

It seems AJ’s wife applied a TQ to his wound almost immediately.

Jordan Salinas, the other good guy with a gun released a statement.

Democrat Rep. Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) was hospitalized Sunday after a hit-and-run crash in Toledo.  According to police, a southbound vehicle drove into the path of the vehicle carrying Kaptur and Zimmerman, causing the collision. The driver of the other vehicle then ran from the scene. Images showed a black Ford Bronco resting on a sidewalk with its airbags deployed and a silver sedan with severe damage to its front end.

 Police officers at the scene said the silver sedan had been stolen as investigators work to identify the hit-and-run driver.

Why am I spilling so many pixels on this? Well, Kaptur is running in one of the most competitive congressional districts in the country. Any time away from the campaign trail will affect her negatively, meaning the chances of flipping this seat to the good side just went up.

You’ve heard of catalytic converter theft. You may have heard of the theft of copper plumbing and wiring theft. But this is a new one even for me. It seems thieves are targeting the condensers of central air conditioning systems now. Thieves target the copper inside air conditioners for scrap value worth tens or hundreds of dollars. Homeowners have had to turn to caging their AC units.

We used to be a serious country. . .

A couple of days ago I mentioned that I thought the Maine Dem apparatus was either dumb, retarded or mentally ill because of the lack of vetting of who they nominated. It was mostly a joke. Well, this news out of Wisconsin makes me ask the same question about the Dem party there. The Dem nominee for governor there, Francesca Hong, is a legitimate nutcase. And I don’t mean the usual prog-dem nuttiness. She is legitimately insane. There is at least one involuntary psych hold on her record and she has admitted to having a mental breakdown, suffering from mental illness, and cutting herself.

All that on top of being a commie.

Look, I am 100% supportive of people getting mental health care. However, an involuntary hold should disqualify you from holding any public office. And in a serious country it would.
