On this date:

• 1497 – John Cabot returns to England after his first successful journey to the Labrador coast. Cabot was an Italian navigator who had been commissioned by King Henry VII of England to find a westward route to Asia.
• 1846 – In an ominous portent, the Donner party encounters its first delay.
• 1862 – The CSS Arkansas, the most feared Confederate ironclad on the Mississippi River, is blown up by her crew after suffering mechanical problems during a battle with the U.S.S. Essex near Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
• 1863 – The CSS Alabama captures the USS Sea Bride near the Cape of Good Hope.
• 1864 – US Grant meets with Phillip Sheridan to appoint him as commander of the Army of the Shenandoah. The appointment was publicly announced the next day.
• 1888 – Martha Turner is murdered by an unknown assailant in London. It is believed to be Jack the Ripper’s first murder.
• 1890 – William Kemmler becomes the first man to be executed by the electric chair. Kemmler was convicted of murdering his lover.
• 1942 – Voronezh in the Soviet Union falls to Nazi troops. They would only control the city for 6 months.
• 1945 – The B-29 “Enola Gay”, piloted by Paul Tibbets, drops the first atomic weapon on Hiroshima Japan. At 08:16:02 the ~15kt device detonates roughly 1,968 feet above the city center, near the designated target of the Aioi Bridge. The blast from the Little Boy killed roughly 80,000 people instantly, devastated five square miles of the city, and led to a total death toll exceeding 140,000 by the end of the year due to radiation and injuries

• 1962 – Jamaica becomes independent after 300 years of British rule.
• 1965 – President Lyndon B. Johnson signs the Voting Rights Act, outlawing the literacy test for voting eligibility in the South.
• 1972 – Atlanta Braves’ right fielder Hank Aaron hits his 660th and 661st home runs, setting the Major League record for most home runs by a player for a single franchise.
• 1991 – Tim Berners-Lee publishes the first-ever website, Info.cern.ch.
• 2011 – Army Chinook Extortion 17 is shot down in Wardak Province, Afghanistan. All 38 men – aboard were killed. It was the deadliest single day of the Afghan war.

We start today’s news with a troublingly odd story out of the land of fruits and nuts. In what at least on the surface looks to be a business dispute of some sort, a pair of Chinese nationals abducted a Uigher man and executed him in front of the cops. Yeah, you read that right. brothers Zhengfeng Bo (67, killed by police) and Jianquan Bo (66, arrested on murder and kidnapping charges) abducted Shukur Aikebaer, 60, shot him at his home, placed him in a car trunk, and led police on a brief chase ending in the driver’s execution-style shooting of Aikebaer during a traffic stop.

All three men are immigrants originally from China’s Xinjiang region who had lived in the US for years. While I suspect there is more – a lot more behind this – it is doubtful we will find out. This one will be memory holed tout suite.

I’m not sure how to classify this one. It may just be Florida Man doing Florida Man things, or it might be something else entirely. Anyway, a pair of Florida men got in a machete fight in a Publix parking lot. James Gay, 35, and Everette Krichbaum, 52, were arrested after a violent clash outside the store in Panama City, Florida, where they struggled over weapons and inflicted hand injuries on each other. Gay admitted hitting Krichbaum in the face with a sheathed machete, stomping him, and causing a brief loss of consciousness; both were hospitalized with non-life-threatening wounds.

Now here is why I included what would normally be just a local story: Gay had been released from prison in 2024 after serving 12 years for his role in a 2011 ‘Vampire Cult’ killing of a teenager in nearby Parker.

There is some really good 2A news to pass along. A District Judge in Texas has just ruled part of the 1934 National Firearms Act unconstitutional. Judge James Wesley Hendrix ruled the 1934 National Firearms Act’s regulatory scheme unconstitutional for these items after Congress set the transfer and making taxes to $0 in the 2025 One Big Beautiful Bill Act, eliminating the taxing power justification originally used to enact it.

The judge stayed the ruling for 7 days to allow the DOJ to appeal. If there is no appeal, suppressors, short barreled rifles and shotguns come off the list and will no longer require a tax stamp and registration. Your state and local laws will however still be in effect. So unfortunately, no SBS or suppressors for me.

I’m kinda glad I waited on this one, it broke as I was writing yesterday’s RNN.

Around 12:27 p.m.GMT yesterday, police responded to a mass stabbing attack on Endell Street in London’s tourist-packed Covent Garden. Stella Gollovena, 47, of no fixed address, was arrested for injuring four men aged 34, 39, 42, and 56 by stabbing them with scissors. Gollovena was charged with four counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon. Police say the attack was likely mental health related.

No shit it was mental health related. “She” is a he and this yet another example of MtF autoparts going haywire.

Also, you don’t hate the media enough. Yesterday when it seemed it was a white woman the press went nuts. As soon as the news broke it was a tranny they disappeared.

There is a bit of breaking-ish news out of DC this morning. The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has voted to hold Anthony Fauci in contempt. All eight Republicans on the committee voted in favor of contempt, and all five Democrats voted against it.

Now we’re waiting on a criminal referral to the DOJ.
