    It has been a difficult decision whether to do “weird” as political humor or the future in “transgenderism”. Weird wins.

    Over on W3P, there is a road thing going as a theme for a thread. Rather than create more work for my sloth self, I am going to use it for Saturday non political humor.

  • She’s Out

    She’s Out

    US Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle has resigned this morning.

    https://twitter.com/NEWSMAX/status/1815760602825941412

    Cheatle, who was appointed as the 27th Director at the behest of Jill Biden in 2022, was previously the head of global security for PepsiCo.

    Her push for DEI goals had caused consternation among the rank and file agents. In April 2024, after a female agent on Vice President Kamala Harris’s detail attacked her superior officer and other agents, U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer requested a briefing with Cheatle to address issues regarding hiring, training and disciplinary processes. The Secret Service downplayed reports of a petition circulating within the agency alleging security vulnerabilities arising from these processes.

    Cheatle’s previous statements regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion became a frequent target for criticism by bipartisan commentators. The Secret Service called criticism of female agents “misogynistic” and reaffirmed its belief where diversity in recruiting was “helping, not hurting, the effectiveness of its protective teams.”

    Let’s be honest. She should have been gone the day after the attempt. The reason she stuck around was POTATUS’ (or those around him, let’s be honest he doesn’t know what day it is) obsession with historic firsts. And Cheatle was the first woman director of the USSS.

    This makes Cheatle the first major political appointee in the Biden administration to be forced out for performance – or lack thereof – reasons.

  • Happy Birthday MilVets and Patriots!

    Happy Birthday MilVets and Patriots!

    How the time flies. It’s been 4 years since Uni and I launched MVAP as a place for Veterans and other like-minded people to connect and converse.

    We did a ‘soft launch’ at the end of June, but the official launch was 4 July2020. This was the launch post:

    Since that first official post, there have been more than 500,000 site visits and several million page views. Not too shabby for a small site. And we have you, Dear Constant Reader, to thank for it. As a small reminder, we do have a push notification system up and running on the site. You may need to disable your ad blocker to see it. But seeing as we do not serve any ads on the site (I know, I know there are ads in the comments, but they aren’t ours and we don’t have a choice about them being there unless we want to pay a couple of grand a year for the paid disqus plugin), it won’t affect anything if you do.

    While we’re on the subject of thanks, I need to extend mine to the team here;

    AuntiE, for her daily conversation posts, her timely political posts and her patience;

    WhyNot, for ensuring posts get tagged and getting – and keeping – the conversations going;

    Chance, for sharing his insights with us all;

    Walt Mow, for putting up with this editor messing with his pieces before publishing

    And most of all, our Publisher Rogue Unicorn for making this hot mess possible.

    Every rapist,every child abuser, every animal abuser, Traitors to the Constitution, border invaders and those who have helped them, (that’s the short list) of those who get a free trip to Neburi! View it as a Spring cleaning because I would.

    Some might that’s a bit extreme,

    Life is to short to worry about MPG

    Sticking with space in a somewhat sorta way, Earth day is coming around, yeah, that nutball who mastered the ceremonies, go see what ole Ira Einhorn did with his girlfriend. This isn’t like ” when chickens come home roost!”.

    It’s more like ” hunny, the cows are home”.

  • The Sinews of Peace

    The Sinews of Peace

    That is the title of an address given to an audience at Westminster College in Fulton Missouri on 5 March 1946. The orator? British WWII Prime Minister Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill.

    He had been invited to speak at Westminster by President Harry Truman. He had lost the UK general election a year before the speech, as the average Brit was tired of war and all that went with it. Churchill had been the embodiment of the UK war effort.

    The nearly hour long speech covered a wide array of topics, but it is best known for the following lines and what followed.

    From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across the Continent. Behind that line lie all the capitals of the ancient states of Central and Eastern Europe. Warsaw, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Belgrade, Bucharest and Sofia, all these famous cities and the populations around them lie in what I must call the Soviet sphere, and all are subject in one form or another, not only to Soviet influence but to a very high and, in many cases, increasing measure of control from Moscow. Athens alone — Greece with its immortal glories — is free to decide its future at an election under British, American and French observation.

    Sinews of Peace– Winston Churchill

    The speech is widely regarded as one of Churchill’s best. The former Prime Minister, with President Truman at his side, articulated the threat that the Soviet Union and communism posed to peace and stability in the post-war world. It not only made the term “iron curtain” a household phrase, but it coined the term “special relationship,” describing the enduring alliance between the United States and Great Britain. It is a speech that offered a blueprint for the west to ultimately wage – and win – the Cold War.

    Does the word immigration ring a bell with anyone? If not, you are living in a cave. One wonders why we need a new immigration law. We have one and one section is ignored by the current unadministration.

    Here is a synopsis of the bi-partisan bill.

    Last but not least, a graph of immigration.

    Now that I have gotten politics out of the way…hmmm..maybe not entirely. Time for CDC. ;)))

    Have a good one all!

    She usta say

    The world has gone to hell in a hand basket.

    I probably shouldn’t share this bit of family history, if knew she I did, she’d turn her ring around and find the back of my head. Grampa served 2 years after WW1 for running moonshine, ma had a job a job at the time, a legit job, which was cover for her real job, haul the shine to work, after work, bring back the empty jugs. If one thinks the goverment cares about you, read up on how many were killed when they poisoned illegal alcohol.

    Meanwhile in the basket

    Ever wonder where all this hate for America started, I don’t.

    When I say, you cannot save everyone, there’s some that are so far gone, don’t waste time or materials.

    Something else she’d say when something went wrong,

    ” if you don’t know where to start, you start at the beginning”

    TJ, you’re up!

    The Last Lion, it’s a good read

    Only real difference from then & now, it’s our turn to Stand or fall

    I really do need more shelving around here, was moving some stuff around, opened a journal, looks new on the outside, been there for awhile

    School of hard knocks starts early, how early, well that depends on the home you grew up in, my parents both would have enjoyed this Man’s company, for he spoke thier language.

    You hungry, after all that, I’m hungry

    Life is fragile, handle with prayer

    along with firearm safety taught early on, some prayers were taught as well.

    “Our Father be our guest, let to us this food be blessed”.
