    Who’s Next?

No, I am not talking about the 1971 release from Daltrey, Townsend, Entwistle and Moon.

Instead I’m wondering who’s next on the Israeli hit list.

In the past 24 or so hours the Israelis have eliminated several high level Hamas, Hezbollah and IRGC leaders.

Yesterday, Fu’ad Shukur, AKA Hajj Mohsen, the #2 military commander of Hezbollah and one of the brains behind the 1983 Beirut Barracks bombing, met Allah after the IDF dropped a JDAM on the building he was in. All told the strike killed 3 and injured 60ish more. Oddly, Hezbollah admitted the building belonged to them.

Overnight, top Hamas political leader Ismael Haniyeh was killed while in Tehran to attend the swearing-in of the new Iranian president. It is suspected – read known, but not officially acknowledged – that Israel was behind the strike. This killing has more implications than might be apparent at first blush. Haniyeh had lived in Qatar, the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The fact that Israelis waited to assassinate him when he was in Tehran sends a message to those countries. We could have done it there, but we wanted you to save some face so we waited until he was in Iran. It also makes the Iranians look weak and unable to protect their interests.

    https://twitter.com/Irishchutzpah/status/1818512129470640362

    But wait! There’s more!

While it’s still unconfirmed, it’s looking like Amir Ali Hajizadeh, a very senior IRGC general, met his end in Damascus, Syria.

    https://twitter.com/sentdefender/status/1818670645468672450

It all feels a little Godfather-esque at this point.

I’m sure Yayha Sinwar is pissing his pants in whatever rat-hole he’s hiding in right now.

  • Israel-Hamas

    Israel-Hamas

It’s been six months and a couple of days since the barbaric attack on southern Israel by Hamas terrorists. I’ve avoided writing much about the war despite it taking up a lot of my personal bandwidth. But there have been some newsworthy events in the last few days that I feel I need to cover.

First up is the Hamas Gaza ministry of health death toll. The MSM has been happily parroting the numbers from Hamas with a completely uncritical eye. You’ll have seen 33,000 dead, mostly women and children, bandied about with little to no pushback. This despite the fact that the numbers provided were statistically impossible.

    https://twitter.com/FDD/status/1777721833321529469

Well, the Hamas run Ministry of health was forced to admit the death toll numbers they’ve been happily providing are false. And not just a little bit false. They were off by more than a third. The Ministry now says it has ‘incomplete data’ on more than 11,000 or the 33,000 deaths they claim.

Not for nothing, I doubt the ~22,000 they now claim. Remember, if you will, the incident at the Al Ahli Arab Hospital in northern Gaza. Hamas initially claimed Israeli airstrike hit the hospital itself and killed more than 500 people. Well, it turned out none of those claims were true. It was a PiJ (Palestinian Islamic Jihad) rocket that misfired and hit a parking area on hospital grounds and killed around 100 people.

Hamas has good reason to lie about the death toll and the causes. They need the collective west, and particularly the US, to believe that lots of civilians are being killed. Joe Truzman, a senior researcher at FDD estimates that around 10,000 of those killed are Hamas/PIJ fighters. If he’s correct, and I have no reason to doubt him, the combattant/non-combattant casualty ratio is 1:1. That low of a ratio is something that no army has ever done in urban warfare.

The IDF has moved most of its combat forces out of Gaza. The single brigade left in Gaza, the Nahal brigade, is securing the ‘Netzarim Corridor’, which crosses Gaza from the Be’eri area in southern Israel to the Strip’s coast. This force is being used as a screening force, preventing Hamas from re-entering the northern part of the strip.

Despite what you might have heard, this withdrawal was not done due to any pressure from the US. After 6 months of intense urban combat, those troops need time to rest and refit. As of this writing, the plans to take Rafah are still a go. The only question is when the op will kick off.

Last week, Israel sent Mohammad Reza Zahedi, commander of the IRGC, to Allah in a strike on an Iranian consulate annex building in Damascus Syria. The Ayatollahs went on their usual tear, and have been screeching about a response ever since. They went so far as to say they would attack US assets if the US interfered in any way. They have since walked that back that claim some.

    https://twitter.com/InstaNewsAlerts/status/1779212869306871850

Last night, the Iranians seized an Israeli owned container ship off the coast of the UAE. Whether or not this is part of the response or not is unclear. Iran has been attacking Israeli owned shipping since at least 2018.

    https://twitter.com/mercoglianos/status/1779100303339487481

On a related note, Israeli FM Israel Katz has just postponed a diplomatic trip to Europe due to the security situation. He was to hold talks with the President of Hungary, the Chancellor of Austria and the Foreign Ministers of Hungary and Austria.

Buckle up folks, the next few days is gonna get real interesting.

Addendum: As I was about to publish this piece, something interesting crossed the transom. President Stability Shoes is coming back from Delaware early to confer with the NSC about the happenings in the Middle East.

  • A Bit of History and Context

A Bit of History and Context

Whilst perusing the interwebs today I ran across a story about ‘Queers for Palestine’ that frankly irritated me. Not the article, that was well written and thoroughly researched, but a single tweet used as the MacGuffin of the article.

    https://twitter.com/folkoftheshelf/status/1775170091237388487?s=20

Every word in that post is wrong. Even community notes got in on the act:

There was no Palestinian state until 1988. From 1948 to 1967, the West Bank was controlled by Jordan. Egypt controlled the Gaza Strip.

Jordan decriminalised same-sex relations in 1951. They did not legalise gay marriage.

Let’s take a step back and look at the history of that region for a minute. The first evidence of a Jewish presence in the Levant starts showing up in the late Bronze age, 1550-1150 BCE. By the early Iron Age, there was ample evidence of two major Jewish/Israeli kingdoms, Israel and Judea.

Israel and Judea Late 9th century BCE.

The boundaries changed fairly frequently over the next thousand years due to external wars and successional ones. What didn’t change was the fact that there were Jews living there the entire time. During the reign of Herod the Great, 72-4BCE, the Jewish kingdom was a client state of the Roman Empire. the boundaries of Israel, or more properly Judea and Samaria, looked pretty similar to what they do today.

I should note here that during the Roman occupation the areas to the south of Judea were called Philistine, after the tribes that lived there. After the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD, the entire region was renamed Palaestina – which was intended as an insult to the Jews, the Philistines were notoriously uncultured – and became a Roman province. This becomes important later.

The Islamic conquest of the Levant started in 634, more than 2000 years after the first Jews appeared there. The conquest was swift and Sharia, or at least the version of Sharia that was practiced then, was imposed. From that point up until the end of WWI, the lands of Israel were controlled by the various Muslim caliphates.

Fast forward a thousand or so years to the Ottoman Empire period. The Turks controlled the Levant and thus the lands that would become modern Israel. During the time the Ottomans controlled the lands, they were known as the Mustaffarate of Jerusalem. I probably should let you know that during the entire Muslim period, Jews were treated as Dwimmi and paid Jizaya, that is the tax on non-muslims and were subject to periodic pogroms. Yet they were still there.

At the end of WWI, the Ottoman lands outside of Turkey proper were divided between the French and British.

It was at this point that Palestine came into common use with British Mandatory Palestine. Prior to 1922 and the establishment of the Mandate, you could not find the word Palestine used on any map or in any textbook. The Brits, being the insufferable toerags they were back then, insisted on a call-back to the Roman era insult, and chose a ‘modernized’ version of Palaestina. Regardless, the Brits had promised a Jewish homeland in the Mandate, and many European Jews emigrated at this time.

I’m sure most of you have at least passing knowledge of the history of the founding of Israel in 1947 and the subsequent Arab-Israeli wars so I won’t get into it, this article is getting too long already. I don’t think I realized where this was going when I started.

Now on to the things that irritated me about that post above. We see a few common themes with all the queers for Palestine and Social Justice crowds when it comes to the Israel-Hamas war, and they’re all stupid.

First up is a complete lack of knowledge about the history of the Levant and the Jewish presence there. Hence the longish – but still incomplete – history lesson above. I keep hearing the Israelis being called ‘colonizers’ yet their presence in the region predates almost every ethnic group or religion. If anyone could be accused of being colonizers it’s the Muslims. They took over the land with fire and sword more than a thousand years after the Jews had settled there.

Next up is the aversion to the true teachings* of Islam. There are dozens of examples of fairly prominent Imams and Islamic scholars saying that the reason Hamas is losing is because there are too many homosexuals at the rallies and protests. I’m a firm believer in the adage when they tell you who they are, believe them. And the Islamists are telling any-and-every one who will listen that being gay goes against the teachings of Allah and deserves the death penalty. I could provide you with the Suras, but frankly I’m too lazy to google them.

It was only a year or so ago that Hamas beheaded a prominent Gazan LGBT activist. It was a public execution if I’m remembering correctly. The Iranians chuck homos off roofs fairly regularly. Being gay in Saudi Arabia will get you flogged. I don’t even want to know what the Taliban would do to homosexuals. Rape you to death probably.

The last thing that irritates me is when they get called out on their nonsense they run away. It’s uncomfortable for them to have their world view challenged and they do everything they can to avoid it. The particular poster here locked down replies as soon as they realized they were gonna get demolished in the replies. There have been more than 15 thousand retweets of that post and I wouldn’t be surprised if the account locks down in the near future.

    * Don’t get me wrong here, I am not endorsing Islam in any way here. I’m using true in the this is what islam really says way.

The House Oversight committee has released its Hunter Biden contempt resolution. The House Judiciary is currently working on their version of a contempt resolution. The Oversight resolution now goes to the DoJ for prosecution.

I’m gonna be honest, these resolutions play well with the R base, but they are really just another kind of virtue signalling. Everyone involved is goddamned well aware that the DoJ isn’t going to pursue the case against the crackhead 1st son. Don’t believe me? See Holder, Eric.

This morning, pro-hamas protesters blocked access to The Holland Tunnel and the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges in New York City.

The Port Authority Police Department said protesters blocked the outbound lanes of the Holland Tunnel around 9:30 a.m., resulting in 120 arrests.

The NYPD also responded to both the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges and took several people into custody.

Video taken near the tunnel showed dozens people sitting down in the roadway, as officers set up metal barriers around them.

Another video showed a similar scene at the Brooklyn Bridge, where about the same number sat in the street there. Video also showed three lanes of traffic at a standstill on the Manhattan Bridge.

Police warned drivers to expect residual delays in the areas around the tunnel and bridges, as well as the Williamsburg Bridge.

Similar traffic blockages took place in LA and Seattle over the weekend.

The source article takes great pains to say pro-‘Palestinian’ protesters. The fact is, they don’t give a fuck about the Pals in general and are actually supporting the Hamas terrorists. The level and virulence of antisemitism I’ve seen lately is shocking. And I don’t know about you, but any protester who keeps me from going where I need or want to go, for any cause, does nothing to sway me to their way of thinking. Honestly, they make themselves my enemy at that point. I’m not saying I’m gonna become this guy, but. . .

The National Park Service is planning on removing a statue of William Penn from in front of Pennsbury Manor. The house and grounds are part of Welcome Park and located a couple of blocks from Independence Hall. Welcome Park is managed by the National Park Service as part of the Independence National Historic Park. Named after the ship William Penn came to the continent on, it is located at the site of Penn’s home. The park exists to celebrate Penn’s life and his many accomplishments.

You knew this was coming. I’ll admit I was agnostic on the removal of Confederate monuments and place-names. Frankly, that fed into the whole ‘Lost Cause’ myth that sprung up in the aftermath of the Civil War. Maybe some day I’ll write a bit about that particular post-war pathology and the shit it led to. My personal feelings aside, I knew when this started it wasn’t going to stop. Maybe we’ll get another giant dick statue* in its place.

*Yes, that’s a thing. Boston unveiled a statue for MLK jr not that long ago, and it looks like a dick from one side.

Let’s start with the elephant in the room. The Colorado supreme court just ruled Trump ineligible for the CO primary ballot. The usual suspects on both sides have already covered this ad nauseam, so I won’t go into much depth here. I personally (IANAL) think they’re out of their ever loving minds. The legal basis they quoted is section 3 of the 14th amendment. This despite no conviction or even charges relating to insurrection. Suffice to say, this is going to end up in front of SCOTUS and damned soon.

The crisis at the southern border is getting worse.

If you extrapolate those numbers out, more than 5 million illegals will have entered the country by January 2025. The worst part is, these numbers are only going to go up.

The 5th circuit court of appeals just issued a stay on the federal removal of concertina wire at the border in Texas. The court ruled that the government cannot “damage, destroy, or otherwise interfere” with the concertina wire fence erected in the Eagle Pass area. There is an exception (that I’m sure will be overused) for medical emergencies. Texas installed the razor wire as part of Operation Lone Star, a border security initiative, to stop the flow of illegal immigrants.

A Hamas leader just admitted what we all knew already. Ahmad Kahlot, senior Hamas member and director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabaliya said that Hamas uses hospitals as bases of operations.

The confession was made while Kahalot was being interrogated by Shin Bet, the Israeli internal security and intelligence agency.

Terrorist supporters defaced the steps to the Lincoln Memorial last night. They wrote free gaza and other graffiti in red paint. Conservators started the cleanup as soon as the damage was discovered.

It seems I have something new to report on the Red Sea area every time I do one of these. This time it’s the fact that nearly all large container ship has rerouted away from the Bab el Mandeb and the Red Sea. So much for Prosperity Guardian. (BTW, if you want to know what’s what in international maritime trade, Sal is your one-stop shop. He has a very good YT channel and tweets about the subject regularly.)

Strieff over at RedState wrote a good piece on the Houthis. Part of that article covers the economics of TF 153. Here’s an excerpt with the relevant info:

The kind of a purely defensive strategy isn’t sustainable. It does not make sense to fire missiles costing up to $4 million at a drone, but the vertical launch systems (VLS) holding the missiles can’t be replenished at sea. The disruption of the West’s supply chain is not something we should tolerate. For a few dollars more, we could level everything in Yemen associated with missile attacks and piracy.

    What he said. . .

  • Genocidal Hatred

    Genocidal Hatred

    https://www.gatestoneinstit…

    * Many Muslims living in the West remain under the influence of Islamist movements and the hatred of Israel and Jews that permeates their countries of origin. Hatred of Jews and Israel is therefore markedly present in Muslim communities in the West.

    * In the 1960s, when the Soviet Union wanted to gain more influence in the Arab Muslim world, its leaders decided to support what was at the time a sacred cause for Arab leaders: the attempt to destroy Israel. They… chose to invent a “national liberation struggle”…. The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was founded in 1964 with the task of “liberating Palestine,” and the borders of “Palestine” on the maps used by the PLO showed that the goal was to erase Israel from the face of the earth.

    * Western leftists started vocally to express hatred of “imperialist Israel” and, ironically, the hard-won democratic freedoms they were at that moment enjoying to the fullest: freedom of speech, assembly, education, sexuality, and supposedly equal justice under the law.

    * The Oslo Accords only made everything worse. By signing them, Israel’s then Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin recognized… that a terrorist organization was somehow the legitimate representative of a people invented fewer than three decades earlier, and that this invented “people” had “rights” and deserved to have territory and self-government.

    * In reality, it was Israel that decolonized the land from the grip of the British, who governed it from 1917 until Israel’s war of independence in 1948.

    * The recent pro-Hamas demonstrations in the US, Canada, Europe and Australia show that hatred of Jews and Israel among Muslims living in the West has reached a degree where many of them openly support genocidal atrocities not only against Jews in Israel but against Jews anywhere…. These demonstrations also show that support for the “Palestinian cause” sometimes also leads Westerners to support genocidal atrocities so long as they are committed against Jews.

    * [I]f nothing is done to respond to the forces seeking to overturn Western civilization, all in the name of “democracy” of course – and Western values such as equal justice under law, equality of opportunity rather than of result, education from facts rather than from propaganda, a media that actually challenges authority rather than allowing itself to be suborned by it, freedom of speech with which one disagrees, the sovereignty of the individual rather than of groups — the worst is bound to come.

  • Hamas Götterdämmerung

    Hamas Götterdämmerung

    STEPHEN GREEN  | PJ Media

They must have felt like gods, the Hamas terrorists who invaded southern Israel on October 7. Indeed, they enjoyed almost godlike powers, first blinding Israel’s remote-control border cameras and then bulldozing through the security fence as though it were hardly there.

All so they could lord their powers over Israeli civilians — raping, torturing, murdering… and not always in that order. The “lucky” Israelis survived long enough to be dragged back to Gaza to be used as human shields and worse.

Hamas even had the ambitions of gods.  A report earlier this week claimed that captured maps and reconnaissance indicated that Hamas had hoped to reach the West Bank, cleaving Israel in two, and sparking a wider war — Armageddon, to borrow a local word with global currency. “If that had occurred, it would have been a huge propaganda win — a symbolic blow not only against Israel but also against the Palestinian Authority,” a U.S. official told the Washington Post.

What a difference a few weeks make because now it’s Israel’s turn.

“Proportionality” is the diplomat’s word for “fair.” “How do we fight this war fairly?” is a question no victor ever asked, and one not being asked by Israel’s government or military.

IAF jets roam the skies at will, raining death and destruction on the terrorists who briefly fancied themselves as gods. Once thought to be impregnable, Hamas tunnels — dug under hospitalscivilian apartment buildings, and mosques — are now killing grounds for IDF and Hamas alike.

PJ Media’s own Richard Fernandez — or as I like to call him, The Smartest Man in the World™ — tweeted Monday that current reports from Gaza “appear to confirm my earlier estimate that Hamas is collapsing and increasingly focused on individual survival. IDF infantry probably shifting to pursuit and raiding in deeper forays.”

“The Hamas organization has lost control in Gaza: Terrorists are fleeing south, civilians are looting Hamas bases. They have no confidence in the government,” Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Monday. Hamas’ days are numbered, twilight is upon them, and every Hamas knows it.

The German word for it is Götterdämmerung, “the twilight of the gods.”

Comparisons to Hitler’s Germany almost write themselves. Flush with easy victories over Poland, Norway, the Low Countries, and even France, Hitler believed he could take the Soviet Union with as much ease. “We have only to kick in the door,” Hitler assured his generals, “and the whole rotten structure will come crashing down.”

Even with the USSR’s almost inexhaustible manpower, resources, and land to retreat across, Hitler — drunk on his seemingly godlike power — believed he could defeat the Soviets in six weeks.

Two hundred two weeks later, Germany no longer existed as a functioning country. Its cities had been burned or smashed, the countryside ravaged, and its reduced territory split into four zones occupied by the victors in the war Germany had started.

The Nazis hidden in Hitler’s underground bunker were dead, like Hamas will be in their tunnels. Several high-ranking Nazis managed to escape in the confusion, and some Hamas will, too. But understand that Jerusalem will patiently hunt them down for killing or kidnapping back to Israel for fair trials. They’ll take years to complete the job, if necessary.

But that’s the future. There is still a capital city to capture — never an easy task.

Taking Berlin cost the Soviets more than 360,000 casualties, including 81,000 or so dead. At the end, the city was a burnt-out, blown-up shell of its prewar glory. Israeli casualties won’t be anything like the Soviets suffered, but for a small country, the losses may prove nearly insufferable.

It’s a price Israel has paid before.

The Yom Kippur War of 1973 was a close-run, hard-fought affair that began with Jerusalem caught as unaware as they were last month. The tally then of Israeli dead and wounded was so horrific that it was weeks before Golda Meir’s government dared admit the numbers. I suspect Israel’s new coalition government might also have to wait until passions have cooled before revealing the IDF’s dead and wounded against Hamas. Before then, Gaza City will be made to pay the same price extracted so dearly from Berlin nearly 80 years ago.

Gaza City, 2023, would be a site instantly familiar to any witness to Berlin, 1945 — just as Götterdämmerung must come for all men who fancy themselves as gods.

  • Why It Is Our Spiritual Obligation to Completely Destroy Hamas

Why It Is Our Spiritual Obligation to Completely Destroy Hamas

    AP Photo/Ariel Schalit

RABBI MICHAEL BARCLAY | PJ Media

(This column is Part 3 of a series of articles explaining the fallacies that have led to the world’s leftists supporting Palestine, Gaza, and Hamas’ horrors. There are links in this article to graphic and disturbing videos. Please only view them if you want to have the horrors of Hamas burned into your mind.)

Although entirely fallacious on every level, there has been a 70 -ear campaign to have the “Palestinians” be the victims that anti-Semites need to justify their hatred of Jews. These lies about a “Palestine” need to be exposed and rejected so that we can begin to have a real dialogue and create a lasting peace. There is now a powerful media campaign to castigate Israel for defending herself from the evils demonstrated by Hamas. This attempt to draw a moral equivalency between Hamsas and Israel needs to be repudiated and rejected in favor of an honest appraisal of Hamas’ evils; of the ludicrousness of “proportionality” in the face of that evil; and of Israel’s commitment to striving to always preserve lives…even of their enemies.

But recognizing the evil of Hamas and the fallacies of a “Palestine” country and people isn’t enough in the struggle for a permanent peace in the region. We need to determine what really must be done in the face of the horrors that Hamas performs in the name of “Palestine.”  Education is meaningless unless it leads to action, and we must now determine how to act.

Before we can really know how to interact with Hamas, we need to be clear about what Hamas really is. Hamas is a terrorist group that uses its own civilians as human shields, including children. Hamas prevents the citizens of Gaza from evacuating so that Hamas can take images of wounded Gazans for the world press. They are killing their own people just so they can get photo opportunities! Hamas is a group committed to destroying all Jews, and to targeting civilians over soldiers.  It is a group that forces children to slaughter animals from the time they are toddlers, and then teaches them that Jews are less than animals.  Hamas is a group that consciously and specifically goes after children, the elderly, and the weak first…to kill and/or kidnap.  They are the personification of an evil that has not been seen in a thousand years, with the exception of the worst of the Nazi atrocities.

So what should be done about Hamas, given their conscious choice to embody the worst qualities of any living being?

As a rabbi, I look for my answers in our sacred texts, most especially in the Torah and Hebrew Scriptures. It is here, in these texts that are considered holy by Jews, Christians, and the Western world, that I believe the pathway is taught as to what to do about Hamas.

Our Sages taught that if we find words of hate or anger in the Torah, it is us, not the text; and that God specifically commands us to not hate others in our heart (Lev. 19:17). This is as much for our benefit as for others:  if we hate, then we lose our own souls.  So according to our tradition, we are clearly not to “hate” Hamas, but what should we be doing?

The biblical answer is found in understanding the story of Amalek, a repeated character in the Bible.  Although God demonstrates forgiveness and redemption over and over to even the worst of characters for their actions, Amalek is the one biblical character who is never to be forgiven. God instructs us to “always be at war with Amalek from generation to generation” (Ex. 17:16).  Even more clearly, God instructs us twice to entirely “blot out” Amalek (Ex. 17:14 and Deut. 25:19).  This is especially unique language as the text does not say “the children of Amalek,” but rather Amalek by name. How are we to destroy a being that physically died over 3000 years ago? And how important is this mandate?  The utter destruction of everything Amalekite is so important that when King Saul, the first king of Israel, chose to not totally destroy Amalekites, he was relieved of his kingship by God through the prophet Samuel (Sam 1:15).

The bible is a book of love and justice, and yet, in a book of forgiveness, Amalek cannot be forgiven. Ever. For all eternity.  Not Amalek’s physical descendants, but specifically Amalek by name.  To understand this dictate, and why it is so important to our current question of how to deal with Hamas, we must understand what Amalek really is, and why we are to utterly and without hesitation destroy Amalek for all time.

The great and unforgivable sin that Amalek committed is that he attacked the ancient Hebrews from behind, where the children, elderly, and weak resided. He was a perpetrator and persecutor in the worst way. He consciously attacked those who could not defend themselves. Like a cancer, he purposefully went for the easiest target.  And like a cancer, he must be totally eradicated without leaving a trace of existence, lest the cancer return in the future. This is why the text does not say “children of Amalek,” as the actual descendants of this man can be forgiven. The commandment to destroy Amalek is a commandment to unhesitatingly and completely destroy any personification of Amalek at any time this manifestation rears its head. Without mercy, we are to completely destroy any version of Amalek… forever.

Here we see what must be done.  The leadership and soldiers of Hamas are the personification of Amalek in our time, and must be entirely rooted out and destroyed. Like Amalek, they have consciously chosen to target their attacks on the weak, young, and old. Like Amalek, they worship death and not life. Like Amalek, they demonstrate total disregard for even the most vulnerable in the world–not only brutally murdering Israeli children, but killing their own wives and children as they use them as shields of protection for themselves.

And like Amalek, Hamas must be completely and totally destroyed. As painful as it is, we must do whatever it takes to “blot” Hamas off the earth.  Hamas is a cancer on all of humanity, and it must be completely annihilated.

As important as this destruction of Hamas as a modern Amalek is, we must simultaneously remember to protect our own souls.  We cannot take any joy in the destruction of Hamas, but we must destroy them or our own sake, so that we never become in any way like them. We can never be like the Hamas supporters who celebrated in the streets of Gaza and Tehran when Israel was attacked.  We have an obligation to utterly destroy Hamas, but we can never let ourselves rejoice in the death of even the worst of humanity.

There is a midrash, a Jewish teaching 2,000 years old, that when the Egyptian soldiers of Pharaoh were drowning in the Sea of Reeds the angels rejoiced. God stopped them, chastising them that the work of His hands was being destroyed and there was no joy in this.  We cannot allow ourselves to be happy that we are ever forced to kill others, even those who are truly evil.

We must remember this aspect of the war we now are experiencing. Hamas has demonstrated that they are Amalek. They must be entirely blotted out of existence. But for the sake of our own souls, me must not allow ourselves to do this in vengeance, hate, or anger. We must kill every one of them, and it is profoundly sad that we have to do this. Although evil now, all of these men were born with pure souls, which were quickly degraded as they grew older, until they became the animals that we see killing babies, kidnapping hostages, and personifying evil.

If you owned a dog that got rabies, you would do everything you could to heal the animal. But the moment the animal attacked a child, you would put it down. And you would probably cry at the loss of what the animal once was. In the same way, while we put down these animals of Hamas, we need to mourn that they have forced us to do this. We must mourn not for their benefit, but for the benefit of our own souls so that we never, God forbid, embrace any of the true evil that Hamas demonstrates.

Golda Meir said two quotes that are paramount for each of us to remember as we fulfill our spiritual obligation of destroying Hamas in its entirety. The first is: “If the Palestinians lay down their weapons, there will be peace. If the Israelis lay down their weapons, there will be a massacre.”  Hamas’ actions on October 7 demonstrate the profoundly sad but absolute truth of her statement.

She also spoke about what could happen in the future during a time of peace:  “We will perhaps in time be able to forgive the Arabs for killing our sons, but it will be harder for us to forgive them for making us kill their sons. Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.”

Hamas hates not only every Jew but even their own people, including their own children. Like rabid dogs they sought out children, both Jewish and Arab, to maim, kill, and use as sacrificial human shields for their own protection. This, above all other horrors they have committed, is why it is obvious that they are a modern Amalek, and must be blotted out and completely destroyed.  And we must protect the holiness of our own souls while we destroy this organization, which is truly, in every sense of the word, evil.

May the Holy One and His Presence help us to entirely blot out Hamas as the modern Amalek, while keeping Israel in safety.  May we never find hate or anger in our hearts as we do what must be done to Hamas and her allies.  And may God always bless us, Israel, and the entire world with real peace–a peace based on respect and not on the fallacies we see all around us. A peace built on the truth and foundation of an Israel that is supported by the world as a light for peace in this time.

    Heartbreak in Israel

People at a festival flee a surprise attack launched by Hamas, near Reim on October 7, 2023 in this screen grab obtained from social media video.

A lot has happened in Israel since I last wrote. I had teased more coverage in that post, but the amount and speed of incoming information was overwhelming. And if I’m being honest, I was personally overwhelmed by the brutality on display.

As of this writing the death toll stands at more than 900 dead, including 9 US citizens, at least 2500 injured and an unknown number, probably dozens including some American, hostages taken to Gaza. The number of dead and wounded will continue to increase as Hamas rocket attacks are continuing.

I wasn’t going to do this, but fuck it. I’m not including the numbers of Palestinian dead, because I don’t care how many of them die. If a bunch of “innocent” Palestinians die because their elected leadership decided to fuck around and find out, so be it. And I feel I need to be perfectly clear here, Hamas is the duly elected leadership of the Gaza strip. They chose this. As Hosea 8:7 says: For they sow the wind; and they shall reap the whirlwind.

The scenes coming out of Southern Israel are heartbreaking. At a music festival near Kibbutz Urim in Southern Israel to celebrate peace, Hamas terrorists used paragliders and trucks to start their massacre.

One woman, Shani Louk, a German citizen, was abducted by Hamas, probably raped and killed, had her dead body paraded around in the back of a truck. She was identified by her distinctive tattoos.

Today, Shani’s family in Germany said they got word that she was alive, with a critical head wound in a hospital in Northern Gaza. I’m sorry, but that’s wish-casting. I’ve seen the video, I will not publish it here, and based on what I saw, she’s dead.

Noa Argamani, who was seen being taken away on a motorcycle by Hamas animals, however is confirmed as being alive and held as a hostage. She was another attendee of the Nova music festival held near the border with Gaza. More than 260 bodies have been recovered at the site.

There are reports floating around that 40 Israeli babies were killed at a kibbutz near Kfar Aza. These reports also state that some of the bodies had been decapitated and burned. They are unconfirmed at this point. I really hope this is not true, but given what has already been confirmed, I think my hope is in vain.

As I was about to publish this story, confirmation of the 40 dead children came in. A German journalist tweeted that she saw some of the bodies while at Kfar Aza.

The Israeli response has been swift and hard. As of 1100 local time, the IDF has struck more than 1300 hamas targets. The IDF has called up more than 360,000 reservists. Merkava tanks are being shipped south in preparation for ground operations.

“I have lifted all restrictions, we have regained control of the territory and are moving to a full-scale offensive. #Hamas wanted change in the Gaza Strip, and it will change 180 degrees from what the terrorists thought. They will regret this moment. Gaza will never go back to what it was before. Whoever comes to behead, to kill women, Holocaust survivors – we will destroy them with all our power and without compromise,” the minister said.

The IDF has also struck targets in Lebanon after Hezbollah fired missiles into Israel.

  • Hamas Attacks Israel

    Hamas Attacks Israel

When this editor signed off last night, the World was much the same as it had been for the last year. Congress was dysfunctional, the Russian war of aggression was still going on and there was little on the horizon that looked like it was going to change.

When I first checked the news today, I see that the terrorists of Hamas had launched an invasion of Israel from the Gaza strip.

The attacks were launched over the security fence separating Palestine from Israel, but also from the water and even by air using gliders. Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the nation, stating that, “We are at war.”

The ruling Hamas militant group in the Gaza Strip carried out an unprecedented, multi-front attack on Israel at daybreak Saturday, firing thousands of rockets as dozens of Hamas fighters infiltrated the heavily fortified border in several locations by air, land and sea and catching the country off-guard on a major holiday.

Six hours after the invasion began, Hamas militants were still fighting gunbattles inside several Israeli communities in a surprising show of strength that shook the country. Israel’s national rescue service said at least 22 people have been killed and hundreds wounded, making it the deadliest attack in Israel in years.

The Soroka Medical Center in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba said it was treating at least 280 casualties, with 60 in serious condition.

Here is the public address that Netanyahu delivered, courtesy of the Telegraph. (Subtitles in English are provided.)

More than 10,000 Israeli reservists have been called up. The Israeli Defense Forces have announced Operation Swords of Iron in response.

Since this morning, the State of Israel has been at war. Our first objective is to clear out the hostile forces that infiltrated our territory and restore the security and quiet to the communities that have been attacked.

The second objective, at the same time, is to exact an immense price from the enemy, within the Gaza Strip as well. The third objective is to reinforce other fronts so that nobody should mistakenly join this war.

We are at war. In war, one needs to be level-headed. I call on all citizens of Israel to unite in order to achieve our highest goal – victory in the war.

According to IDF spokesperson Brigadier General Daniel Hagari:

Hamas took hostages and captives. There are also deaths of IDF soldiers. We don’t have an exact number yet – we are at war, Dozens of terrorists infiltrated on foot a large number of locations. There was also a naval infiltration bringing the terrorists to Zikim. There are also a large number of breaches in the security fence.

We are fighting in 22 locations. There is no community in Southern Israel where we do not have forces, in all the towns. There are communities that have been rid of terrorists, but we want to finish additional scans of the area before declaring so.  In Ofakim and Beeri there are hostage situations, there are special forces there with senior commanders and live fire fights are going on there.

There are deaths – including deaths of IDF soldiers, when we have all the numbers we will give them.

We are engaged in combat in the Gaza division, including the combat-assistance of fighter jets, we are in control there.

We have roadblocks with the Israel Police in all areas.

There are strikes by the Air Force in several locations. UAVS, scanners, and fighter jets are striking in the area of the fence. Hundreds of such strikes were carried out – hundreds of deaths, including many terrorists.

The main effort is to eliminate all the terrorists on the security fence, all those who infiltrated Israel and are trying to return to the Gaza Strip. First of all we will strike from the air, and then also with heavy ground means.

There are a lot of fake news – it was said that Nimrod Aloni (a top general) was kidnapped, this is not true. They said that Avi Rosenfeld (Commander of the Gaza Division) was kidnapped, that’s not true.

Our goals are that all the terrorists will be killed, that all the communities will be rid of terrorists. Until then, continue to shut yourself in the houses in the area near the Gaza Strip.

A wide mobilization of reserves has begun – there are 4 divisions that we are immediately bringing down to Gaza. 31 regular battalions are already in the area around the Gaza Strip and Southern Israel. Tanks have also been brought down to the Gaza Strip.

In the Northern Command we are on high alert, there are currently no events there but we are ready for any event and whoever attacks us in the entire northern arena – will pay a very heavy price. Our focus is on Gaza but we are on high alert in case we encounter any incident, we currently do not have such information.

The IDF is striking all Hamas and PIJ targets in the Gaza Strip. Wherever there are Hamas terrorists they will be found and eliminated, they have no immunity. We are also striking high profile targets.

The Central Command is also being bolstered with regular battalions and preparations are made for riots.

We will do a very sharp and thourough review. We are currently busy regaining control of the area, striking broadly and especially taking care of the area around the Gaza Strip.

The citizens of the State of Israel are require great resilience, with an emphasis on the residents of the Gaza Strip. These are difficult hours of fighting – but at the end we will reach full security in the Gaza Strip.

This is a developing story, look for additional coverage later today.
