BREAKING: Verdict Announced in Kyle Rittenhouse Trial

As RedState has reported over the last several weeks, the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse for murder, after he seemingly defended himself during the Kenosha riots, has had many twists and turns. At the beginning of the week, though, closing arguments were finally concluded and the search for a verdict commenced.

Deliberations in the trial went far longer than most predicted, but after more than 24 working hours by the jury, the verdict is finally in.

Kyle Rittenhouse has been found NOT GUILTY on all counts.

This case was seen as a milestone in how self-defense is handled in the country, with many suggesting that Rittenhouse being found guilty would result in a significant reduction in one’s right to defend themself. Multiple pieces of video evidence showed Rittenhouse being chased and beaten by rioters the night he fired his weapon. Yet, the prosecution argued that the teenager had provoked those he ultimately shot.

You can expect coming unrest given this verdict, though, hopefully, things won’t get violent. The media and many Americans were emotionally invested in Rittenhouse being found guilty, despite the obvious evidence showing he wasn’t. Hopefully, Kenosha law enforcement is prepared for what may come.

There’s a ton more to analyze here, and RedState will have many more pieces today discussing the result, so stay tuned.

    Kyle Rittenhouse Out on Bail

17 year old Kyle Rittenhouse has been released from jail after posting a $2 million dollar bond. The teen has been charged with two counts of murder for killing two assailants and wounding a third during rioting in Kenosha Wisconsin earlier this year.

His release came over the objections of family members and lawyers for two of the men he shot. They had asked for higher bail and voiced concerns Rittenhouse would flee, which his lawyers have said he would not.

The 17-year-old’s release was funded by donations sought by his attorneys, who appealed to the political right, where Rittenhouse is popular. Those lawyers also are seeking to overturn Democratic President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

An attorney set up the payment and then a private security detail transported him from the jail about 2 p.m. Friday, according to Sgt. David Wright of the Kenosha County sheriff’s department.

    L. Lin Wood, one of a team of attorneys defending Rittenhouse set up a fund for the teens defense. The majority of the donations were small, and came from hundreds of individuals.

With a little luck, Kyle will get through this without any more damage than he’s already experienced.

    Rittenhouse Defense Team Issues Statement

The legal team representing Kyle Rittenhouse issued a lengthy statement on Friday. The attorneys from Pierce Bainbridge are defending the 17-year-old, who was charged with first-degree murder on Wednesday.

“Pierce Bainbridge is honored to represent 17-year-old Antioch, Illinois, resident Kyle Rittenhouse, who has suddenly found himself at the center of a national firestorm and charged with murder after defending himself from a relentless, vicious and potentially deadly mob attack in Kenosha, Wisconsin,” the statement begins.

Describing the events of the incident, the statement says Rittenhouse was on his way to a mechanic’s shop when multiple rioters accosted him, recognizing him as one of the people trying to protect the shops in the area. The teen tried to flee as he was chased by the “mob,” and “[u]pon the sound of a gunshot behind him, Kyle turned and was immediately faced with an attacker lunging towards him and reaching for his rifle. He reacted instantaneously and justifiably with his weapon to protect himself, firing and striking the attacker.”

“In fear for his life and concerned the crowd would either continue to shoot at him or even use his own weapon against him, Kyle had no choice but to fire multiple rounds towards his immediate attackers, striking two, including one armed attacker,” the law firm adds.

“A 17-year old child should not have to take up arms in America to protect life and property. That is the job of state and local governments. However, those governments have failed, and law-abiding citizens have no choice but to protect their own communities as their forefathers did at Lexington and Concord in 1775,” the statement says.

“Kyle is not a racist or a white supremacist,” the legal team continues. “He is a brave, patriotic, compassionate law-abiding American who loves his country and his community. He did nothing wrong. He defended himself, which is a fundamental right of all Americans given by God and protected by law. He is now in the crosshairs of institutional forces that are much more powerful than him. But he will stand up to them and fight not only for himself, but for all Americans and their beloved Constitution. We will never leave his side until he is victorious in that fight.”
