It is specifically a combat decoration. (U.S. Marine Corps)
As you all probably know, I was a non-combatant US Navy veteran. I did not participate in combat, but I saw the terrible devastation it had upon our troops in my role as a nurse.
I have the utmost respect for all combat veterans, and especially those that have been injured in the course of their duty.
Stolen valor is bad enough, but somehow falsely claiming the award of a purple heart sticks in my craw more than anything else.
Just had to get that off my chest.

What are your thoughts?
What should be the penalty for this?
And any insight as to WHY people do this?
