George Gascon, Los Angeles County’s new district attorney, wasted no time to implement new changes to crimes his office will be not be focused on as well changes to punishments for certain crimes.
Gascon issued a directive to all deputy DAs listing misdemeanors for which there would be no prosecution. The list reads as follows:
- Trespassing
- Disturbing the peace
- Driving without license
- Prostitution
- Criminal threats
- Drug possession
- Minor with alcohol
- Drinking in public
- Public intoxicating
- Loitering
- Resisting arrest
- Under the influence of a controlled substance
It has, further, been reported that DA Gascon will do away with cash bail, the death penalty, all sentencing enhancements, and the special circumstances committee.
Gascon had the following things to say:
“The public’s interaction with the criminal justice system is mainly through misdemeanor prosecutions, yet the power and influence of the misdemeanor system in Los Angeles County has gone largely unnoticed. The goal of this new policy is to reimagine public safety and best serve the interests of justice and community well-being. As such, the prosecution of low-level offenses will now be governed by this data-driven Misdemeanor Reform policy directive,”
“The goal of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is to protect public safety. To do so as effectively as possible, we will direct those in need of services to treatment providers, divert those undeserving of criminal records to appropriate fora, and reorient our focus towards combating violent and serious criminal offenses,”
I am absolutely positively unequivocally sure the “public” will feel sssooo much safer knowing that people issuing “criminal threats” toward them will not prosecuted.
I can only imagine the glee of his police force over the fact individuals can now “resist arrest” with complete impunity.
One has to wonder how the gated community residents are going to enjoy people “trespassing” in their McMansion grounds, calling the police only to be told it is not a crime to stroll through their property.
Repetitive stories have been written about Soros’ Open Society agenda, which includes completely remaking the justice system. Translation being doing away with criminal justice and creating anarchy. This is not the first of his chosen local DAs. Think Seattle, Portland, Philadelphia, St. Louis and others.
The evidence continues to pileup that voters pay insufficient attention to down ballot candidates. This is what those voters end up with.
