The View from Here

The Worst Governor in America ™, Andy Cuomo, is making an “exception” to his Wuhan virus rules so he can attend the Buffalo Bills playoff game in Orchard Park, just south of Buffalo. The “love Gov” leaned on the Erie county health commish to allow about 6700 fans to attend next week’s Wild Card game. This comes after Cuomo publicly declared his desire to attend the game. It is the first playoff game the Bills have hosted in 25 years.

This one pisses me off. Mightily. Remember back at the beginning of the panic about the pandemic when a bunch of craft distilleries started to produce hand sanitizer? Well, no good deed goes unpunished. Every last one of those businesses that switched over to sanitizer production will now be billed $14,500 by the FDA. Some guff about them being classified as OTC monograph producers. In layman’s terms that means they are producing a single regulated over the counter “medication”. In this case it’s hand sanitizer. It gets worse though. This isn’t some case of some mid-level functionary overstepping. The provision that allows such nonsense was actually part of the “CARES” act passed by congress this summer.

A Milwaukee healthcare worker is under criminal investigation for intentionally spoiling as many as 500 doses of the Chinese coronavirus vaccine. The worker admitted to purposefully removing the vials from the refrigerated storage facility. Allegedly.

Most of you are old enough to remember Gilligan’s Island, whether you saw the original run or when it was in syndication. I have some sad news for fans of the show. Dawn Wells who portrayed Mary Ann has died at age 82 from covid complications.

Resquiscat in Pace.

You may have noticed today’s View is quite early. We’re planning on having a New Years Eve post later, and this editor needs a nap to stay up that late. I hope to see everyone there. There will be fun, games and of course, music. Unfortunately, all refreshments will be digital. However if anyone ever swings by my AO, drop me a note and the first drink is on me.

On a personal note, I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who makes Milvets and Patriots part of their day. We wouldn’t be here without you.

On behalf of the entire team here, we wish you all the best for 2021.
