Mr Wizard covered yesterday’s riot here and I covered some of the aftermath here. Joe Biden weighed in on yesterday’s events. Apparently, at least according to Joe, this incident is “one of the darkest days in the history of our nation.”
I mean, it’s not like some bearded goat f*ckers flew some planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in 2001 or the Japanese attacked the naval base at Pearl Harbor in 1942. But you know, narrative.
Here’s part of the reason what started out as a protest gathering devolved into the riot it became. Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser refused an offer for federal assistance with crowd control for the stop the steal protest.
“The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is prepared for this week’s First Amendment activities. MPD has coordinated with its federal partners, namely the US Park Police, US Capitol Police, and the US Secret Service-all of whom regularly have uniformed personnel protecting federal assets in the District of Columbia,” Bowser wrote, adding, “The District of Columbia Government has not requested personnel from any other federal law enforcement agencies.”
That’s only part of the reason though, the District PD doesn’t have jurisdiction on Capitol Hill. The Congressionally controlled Capitol PD is the agency with responsibility over the Hill. Since the Capitol was breached yesterday, the House Sergeant at Arms has resigned and Nancy Pelosi is calling for the resignation of the Chief of the Capitol police.
Noted super genius Alexandria Ocasio Cortez has called for Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley to be removed from the Senate.
And Cruz, who’s not afraid to clap back when necessary, responded.
