This is a PSA for our readers along the Gulf coast of Florida and points northward. There is a major hurricane headed your way.
According to the National hurricane center, Helene will be a major hurricane when it makes landfall Thursday evening. As of right now, it’s most likely landfall will be in the Big Bend area between Apalachicola and Cedar Key.
There are storm surge warnings up for the entire Florida Gulf coast. Tropical storm force winds are expected from the Alabama-Florida line around the entire state of Florida up the east coast as far as South Carolina.
The Metro Atlanta area may see hurricane force winds and the entirety of south Georgia is in the crosshairs. So are parts of eastern Alabama.
Parts of Tennessee and Kentucky are in for heavy rains, with early estimates being in the 6-8″ range.
