New Jersey Representative LaMonica McIver has been charged with assault under 18USC111(a)(1) for striking an ICE agent.
The incident occurred during an ‘oversight’ visit to the Delaney Hall ICE facility in Newark. McIver is on tape striking an ICE agent multiple times. The penalty for conviction is from 1 to 7 years depending on the fact set.
McIver issued a statement about the charges.
The problem with that statement is that legitimate oversight does not include assaulting federal law enforcement agents. There was a pair of community notes appended to her post, but they seem to have been removed somehow.
In the same release that announced the charges against McIver, Alina Habba, the US Attorney for NJ said the charges against Newark Mayor Ras Baraka were being dropped.
Fatass chow thief Alexander Vindman’s brother is facing a FEC investigation over misuse of campaign funds. Eugene Vindman was elected to VA 7 last fall. He illegally used funds from his campaign accounts to prop up sales of fatboy’s poorly selling book.
President Trump sued CBS over the deceptive editing of the 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris last year. I haven’t kept up with the suit, frankly there is too much other stuff of much greater import going on. There is news today on that front however. CBS has offered to settle the suit for $20 million.
As I said, I was aware of the litigation, but not any of the details. I have no idea what the original damage claims were. I have no idea if this is a good number or whether or not CBS has to admit any wrongdoing.

There was an interesting exchange between SecState Rubio and Dem VA senator Tim Kaine about refugee programs.
You may remember (I chose to forget, but was reminded while researching this one) that Kaine was Kankles choice for Veep a while back. It’s clear he hasn’t gotten any smarter.
It seems that Chris Van Hollen isn’t any smarter. Rubio smacked the absoulute shit out of him in the same hearing.
