Random News and Notes 11 June

We’re kicking off this edition of RNN with some news out of Newark. If you recall, there was an incident at the Delaney Hall ICE facility in that city. Several politicians tried to gain entry into the detention center and there was a scuffle with ICE agents. The mayor, Ras Baraka was arrested and then released. US Representative from New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District LaMonica McIver was charged with assaulting a federal agent. Yesterday, a federal Grand Jury returned a three count indictment for McIver.

That is the definition of FAFO.

An important indicator of economic health was released this morning and it beat expectations. The CPI (consumer price index) came in at .1% for the month while the annualized rate came in at 2.4%. The CPI measures the average change in prices paid by consumers for a basket of goods and services, like food, housing, transportation, and healthcare, over time. It’s used to track inflation or deflation, showing how the cost of living changes. The expectations were that it would rise by .3%.

Stock futures jumped at the news.

A child sex trafficking bust went down in Texas recently. The FBI Dallas Division, Dallas Police Department, Plano Police Department, Wylie Police Department, and Garland Police Department all took part in Operation Soteria Shield, an annual enforcement event. The agencies involved executed 165 search warrants, arrested 244 offenders on 368 total charges and most importantly rescued more than 100 children.

I only have one thing to say:

Your editor follows Euro politics so you don’t have to. Here is the latest from the Continentals. There is trouble in Tulip land. Geert Wilders, leader of the ‘right wing’ Euro-skeptic PVV party has announced that PVV is withdrawing from the government. That move collapses the coalition government. Wilders is irritated that the ruling coalition isn’t doing enough on the immigration front. This forces a snap election to reform a government. Yeah, parliamentary systems are weird.

The rest of the coalition seemed to think that the PVV withdrawal being tied directly to immigration concerns would hurt that party’s chances in the upcoming elections. Well, seems they were wrong. Badly so. PVV has made some serious gains in the polls since the announcement.

The post reads:
YESSS!!
PVV +5 seats
VVD -4 seats
GL/PvdA -3 seats
PVV at 1 with 33 seats!!
THE NETHERLANDS WANTS THE PVV!!
AND NO YESILGOZ/TIMMERMANS

This comes after the shock in Poland where the conservative candidate won the Presidential elections.

Now onto the riot coverage.

Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass issued a curfew from 2000 last night till 0600 this morning for downtown LA.

I’m not sure how much good the curfew did. There were several hundred arrests in the wake of the order.

Fiery but mostly peaceful. . .

California governor Hair Gel decided to go to court to block the Trump administrations deployment of National Guard and Marines to Los Angeles.

A couple of legal notes about that filing. First, we don’t have the whole thing. So who knows what the rest looks like. Second, it asks for an ex parte ruling. That means he wants a ruling without the Government being able to respond.

Well, he got neither the TRO or the ex parte order. The judge in the case, Clinton appointee Charles Breyer – brother of the former Supreme Court Justice – set a briefing schedule and hearing date instead.

The unrest is starting to spread. Protestors have appeared in Chicago, Boston and New York. Here we see a couple of white liberals laughing at the misery of a black woman just trying to get to work.

I for one am tiring of this shite.
