Random News and Notes 15 June
We’re kicking off with a housekeeping note. There will be no Photos of the Week today. Your editor spent the morning with his son and said offspring’s soon-to-be wife, so he had no time to curate and assemble that post. Photos of the Week will return to its regular slot next week. If you need your weekly fix of military imagery, go check out the Army’s 250th Birthday parade here. On to the News. . .
The shooter in Minnesota has been identified but is still at large. Vance Luther Boelter had/has ties to Minnesota governor Tim Walz.
Boelter’s wife, Jennifer, was picked up by Minnesota law enforcement last night.
This story is weird and getting weirder. I am following it pretty closely and I still don’t know what to think. Rest assured I’ll keep you up to date on this one.
On to the Middle East where the Israeli-Iranian conflict continues. There were more exchanges last night and into today.
Israel continues its precision strikes against military and regime targets. At last check, at least 14 Iranian nuclear scientists have been eliminated along with most of the senior Iranian military leadership. Last night, Israel hit several oil refineries and gasoline storage facilities around Tehran.
This morning there are reports of a strike at Mashhad, some 2300km from Israel. The IAF is creating the conditions for complete air dominance over Iran. Just as I was going to publish I ran across this little gem regarding Mashhad. Apparently, that is where Khamenei is hiding right now. That makes me wonder about the refueling plane that was taken out and why it was in Mashhad in the first place.
Iran has launched between 150 and 200 missiles and an additional 100+ drones at Israel since the start of hostilities. According to my sources, there have been fewer than 15 impacts. Those impacts have killed 14 and wounded nearly 400 more Israelis, including an Arab Israeli family in the Arab enclave of Tamra in the Lower Galilee.
The No Kings rallies happened yesterday across the country. They were not as uneventful as might have been hoped although they were as white and as old as you might have expected.
There was a shooting at the one in Mormon Land. Salt Lake City police said that one person was critically injured and they had a suspect in custody.
Some dumbass drove into a crowd at the protest in Culpepper Va. He’s being held with no bail on reckless driving charges despite there being no identified victims.
According to the police Facebook, it was determined that dummy intentionally accelerated his vehicle into the dispersing crowd, striking at least one person with his vehicle. At this time, no injuries were reported to law enforcement, nor has the person that was struck by the vehicle been identified by law enforcement. No bail seems a bit harsh for a misdemeanor without a victim identified. Maybe that’s just me.
Now for a smattering of left coast ICE riot related news. Starting in the Riot capitol of the US, Portland. Rioters there set fire to an ICE building.
In LA the ‘peaceful protests’ got declared an unlawful assembly and were forcibly dispersed.
The Marines from 2/7 made their first appearance, lining up with riot shields and pushing rioters away from the federal building.
