Random News and Notes 23 June
A suspected active shooter was taken off the census in Wayne, Michigan yesterday morning. The incident started with the would-be killer driving his truck into the CrossPointe Community Church. A church Deacon saw the man, dressed in tactical gear and carrying a rifle, and hit him with his truck. A security guard then shot and killed the perp.
As of this writing, there have been no fatalities – other than subhuman attacker – and one reported injury to a security guard. The shooter, who has been positively identified, planned the attack and left some sort of manifesto or screed about the Crosspointe Church.
For all of you east of the Mississippi, be sure to drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun as much as possible. There are record temperatures forcast across the Eastern US for the next few days. Your editor in Upstate NY is expecting high 90’s for highs today and tomorrow. The normal high temp for the last week of June is 79°. The outside temperature as of 1000 Monday – as I write this piece – is 85° and the dew point is 76°. FML.
If you’re out west, bring a sweater, you’ll probably need it.
Iranian nationals fall into a special category when they enter the US: Special Interest Aliens. That designation, in place since shortly after the Islamic takeover of Iran in 1979, subjects Iranians to heightened scrutiny when entering the country including long term monitoring. Well, Joe Biden released some 729 Iranians who tried to enter the US illegally into the country.
As that famed philosopher Winnie the Pooh said; Stay strapped or get clapped . . .

Expect a serious post about self-defense in an active shooter/mass casualty event later this week, but for now follow Pooh’s advice.
The backlash over Operation Midnight Hammer continues. Rep Jasmine Crockett (Dumbass-Houston) is big mad the President didn’t run his war plans past her.
I wonder if she’s actively trying to dethrone Sandy from the block as the dumbest member of the House of Representatives.
In the first of a couple of sports notes, LSU has won its 8th NCAA Baseball title. It’s their 2nd championship in three years. The 6 seed Tigers beat 13 seed Coastal Carolina 5-3 to wrap up the College World Series. LSU pitcher Kade Anderson is the #9 ranked MLB prospect in the upcoming draft.
In our other sports related note, there is an NBA champion. The OKC Thunder beat the Indiana Pacers 4 games to 3 to win the title. This was the lowest rated finals in a while. Your editor went to the trending tabs on Twitter to look for a post to include, and OKC is nowhere to be seen. Nuggets, Raptors and Knicks are all trending, but not the champion Thunder. Tells you all you need to know I guess.
Onward with the news. . .
The upcoming NYC mayors race is heating up. Disgraced former governor Andrew Cuomo was leading in the Dem primary. However, a recent poll puts Jihadi Marxist Zohran Mamdani in the lead over Cuomo. The latest Emerson College Polling/PIX11/The Hill survey says Mamdani leads with 51.8% against Cuomo’s 48.2%.
The NYC Mayor’s race primary voting starts tomorrow. It is a ranked choice system for the primary, but lets be honest here, whoever wins the Dem nomination is going to be the Mayor. Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels is the Republican nominee and current mayor Eric Adams is running as an independent.
This is something I did not have on my bingo card following the US strikes; China has publicly warned Iran not to try to close the Straits of Hormuz.
That’s another major blow to the chicken littles in the Oh no, WWIII crowd. All of the major – and minor for that matter – Iranian backers have announced they are not helping.
This one is a little perplexing. US and British authorities in Qatar have issued shelter-in-place orders for their respective embassy staff and their respective nationals in the Emirate.
I’m confused because Qatar is the one country in the Gulf region that is playing all sides. It wouldn’t make sense for any one party to effect an attack on Qatari soil and risk all that comes along with that kind of attack. I will be monitoring this particular situation and keep y’all up to date.
