Random News and Notes 24 June
We start off in Massachusetts where Biden appointed district court Judge Brian Murphy is trying to do an end run around the Supreme Court. Murphy had issued a temporary restraining order preventing the Trump administration from deporting illegals to third-party countries. SCOTUS lifted that TRO and stayed district court proceedings until there was a ruling from the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals.
Well the newly installed district judge – he was confirmed in December during the lame duck session – decided he didn’t need to listen to the Supreme Court.
I don’t think this is going to end well for him. Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said to be prepared for “fireworks” when this case returns to the courtroom.
President Trump lost his temper over the cease-fire violations in the Israel-Iran conflict. He lashed out at both countries:
While I understand where he’s coming from, I disagree with his reaction. Frankly, I think this cease-fire – and his push for it – is ill-timed and ill-advised. Israel should have a free hand to continue degrading the Iranian regimes ability to wage war and supply their terror proxies. A few more days, and that was all that Israel planned for, is all it would take. The IAF has been extremely precise and has taken great pains to avoid civilian casualties during their bombing campaign.
While we’re on the subject, Iran ‘struck’ back at the US yesterday. They launched 9 ballistic missiles at Al Udeid air base in Qatar. 8 were intercepted and the one that actually impacted landed in the middle of a field and caused no damage. The base, near Doha, was all but emptied in the days leading up to the US B2 mission. The entire thing was theater, although it pissed off the Emir. Enjoy this (nsfw language) video of US troops at Al Udeid watching the intercepts:
This next piece is as Florida a story as you’re likely to see here at MVAP. There is an abandoned airport in the middle of the Everglades. The state of Florida has offered it up to the feds as a site to detain illegals awaiting deportation.
Alligator Alcatraz. . .
President Trump is on his way to The Hague for the NATO summit. Among other things, he will be discussing a new spending target for the member states.
