Random News and Notes 28 June
I told you about the attack on CPB working dog Freddy the other day. Well, Freddy is doing well and back on duty sniffing out ne’er do wells and their contraband agricultural products.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis offered the feds a chunk of land in the Everglades for use as an ICE detention center. It has been dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz” and is centered on an abandoned airfield in the middle of the swamp. The best part? Funding is coming from a FEMA fund that housed illegals in the upscale Roosevelt hotel in NYC.
. . . Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.
For some reason I think the accommodations in the ‘Glades will not be anywhere like as pleasant as the Roosevelt.
This one is both amusing and a bit scary. A wide swathe of Scottish nationalist accounts on Twitter and other SocMed went dark in the wake of the Israeli and US strikes on Iran. Why you might well ask. Simple, those accounts were all based in Iran, and the Ayatollahs shut off the internet in that country after the bombings.
Tres amusant non? Also a bit scary. If they were doing that crap to (mostly) inoffensive Scotland, think about what they are doing here.
I spend a goodly amount of time on Twitter, and in the recent days several relatively high profile – I’m talking tens of thousands of follower – ‘MAGA’ accounts have been outed as being from outside the US. These accounts are/were all pushing the same talking points and had audience enough to move the needle. I implore you to be discriminate in who you follow or listen to on-line.

. . . of our 30 Trillion dollar economy? Thankfully, President Trump is willing to stand up to Canada and other countries seeking to harm our Great Companies. Let’s stand behind our President and support the One Big Beautiful Bill!
Of course Trump ended all trade negotiations with Canada and threatened more and higher tariffs. The consensus I’m seeing – even from Canucks – is that Carney fucked up.
AG Pam Bondi fired three prosecutors that worked on J6 cases last night. This is a continuation of the J6 firings that started in March. It is, however, the first time non-probationary employees have been fired.
I have an issue with permanent government sinecures, especially in the DOJ. Hopefully this is not the last batch of ‘career’ DOJ personnel that get pink slips.
