Today marks the 81st anniversary of Operation Overlord and the Normandy landings. It was the Day of Days.
Remember and honor the bravest and best of the Greatest Generation.
The jobs report is out. The number of non-farm jobs rose 139,000 for the month, slightly above the estimates of 125,000 and a bit below the downwardly revised 147,000 in April. The unemployment rate held at 4.2%.
I’ve heard the numbers described as being in the ‘Goldilocks’ zone; slightly better than expected but not so good that the Fed takes notice and doesn’t reduce interest rates. We’ll see how it goes.
Way back in April 2024, Christian McGhee, a 16 year old student at Central Davidson High School in Lexington, North Carolina was suspended from school for three days for using the term ‘illegal alien’ in an English assignment. The school board called the use of the legal term offensive and disruptive. Well, Christian got himself an apology and a check.
Christian rightfully filed a federal lawsuit and the school board has decided to settle the matter. From the Carolina Journal: “As part of the proposed settlement, the school board will remove all references to racial bias in the teen’s school record, offer a public apology from the board for mischaracterizing him in a racially biased way in his school records, and provide $20,000 in compensation. The monetary compensation is intended to help with the costs of the new private school Christian transferred to following the incident.
“On Friday, we filed a motion asking the court to approve a settlement that would resolve this matter,” said Dean McGee, senior counsel for educational freedom at the Liberty Justice Center. “Because Christian is a minor, a court hearing is required before the settlement can become final. We’ll have more to say after that hearing, but we’re pleased to take this important step toward clearing our client’s name.” “
Two things, first, that settlement needs to have at least one more zero, second the funds need to come from those involved not taxpayer funds or some insurance policy. That is the only way this stuff is going to end.
Remember Greta Thunberg? The autistic child that was exploited by her parents to screech about the climate scam? Well, she has moved onto the next left wing cause celebre Gaza. Her and a bunch of her lunatic friends boarded a 60′ long motor sailer with the intent to ‘break the Israeli naval blockade of Gaza’. Nevermind the fact that the vessel – the Madleen – has a cargo capacity of less than 1000kg.
It seems the floating asylum has made a detour. Apparently, they decided to help some Libyan boat people make it to Europe. Regardless, it seems they have been running the diesel more than they have been under sail so. . .
The Army has met its recruiting goal for the year already. Four months early. The goal was met last year, but only after the numbers had been revised downward substantially.
It is being reported that retention goals have also been met for the FY.
What a difference an administration makes.
