Random News and Notes 16 July

The MLB All Star game was held last night. The Senior Circuit won in a home run derby. The NL lead – comfortably – until the 7th, when the AL plated 4 runs. They would strike again in the top of the 9th to tie it 6-6. Under the rules package for this year, a tie would be settled with a homer contest. Three hitters from each team would have three swings to hit as many nukes as they could. The NL hitters hit 4 to the AL’s 3.

Kyle Schwarber, picked up MVP honors for his swing-off performance. He hit 3 homers in his 3 swings. It was the first time an All Star game has been decided by the new format. It was agreed to in the last collective bargaining agreement.

There were more 3rd country deportations announced. This time they went to a country you probably did not know even existed. Your editor knew about it, but not under the current appellation: Eswatini. You may have heard of a country called Swaziland, a tiny enclave smushed between South Africa and Mozambique, well that was the previous name. Anyway, the individuals sent to that tiny – and dangerous – Kingdom include Vietnamese, Cuban, Laotian, Yemeni and Jamaican nationals.

I’m sure the left is gonna blow a gasket over this. Eswatini is not the safest place on the planet. And I’m quite sure that the jails and prisons are absolute hellholes. Oh well.

There was a procedural vote on the rescissions package in the Senate late last night. The vote moved the package out of committee and on to the Senate floor. The package addresses cuts to existing programs. The vote was anything but ordinary. Three R’s crossed the aisle – McConnell, Murkowski and Collins – and voted no. VP Vance had to cast the tie-breaking vote.

The package will claw back some $9 billion in foreign aid and funding for public broadcasting.

Karen Bass is trash. Starting with her efforts to defund the LAPD to her response – or lack thereof – to the Palisades fire to her caring more about illegals than her actual constituents. Her latest shite action comes in the wake of the DOD withdrawing the Cali NG from LA. According to Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell the troops are being sent home because the violence has started to abate.

“Thanks to our troops who stepped up to answer the call, the lawlessness in Los Angeles is subsiding,” Parnell said Tuesday. “As such, the Secretary has ordered the release of 2,000 California National Guardsmen (79th IBCT) from the federal protection mission.”

Bass decided this was the time to take a ‘victory’ lap.

Retreat. Yeah. Keep in mind, this suuuuper genius was almost VP. Leaving the retarded retreat part aside, she – and no other Angeleno – had anything to do with the decision to send half the Guardsmen home. Well, I suppose the retards that were doing the rioting stopping had a bit to do with it, but the decision was made in DC by Pentagon officials.

Anthony Bernal was Jill Biden’s chief of staff and one of the Biden family’s top advisors. He was subpoenaed to testify in front of Congress regarding the auto-pen scandal. During closed-door testimony in front of the House oversight committee he repeatedly invoked the 5th Amendment.

Committee Chair James Comer issued a statement after the non-testimony:

Anthony Bernal — Jill Biden’s Chief of Staff — just invoked the Fifth Amendment during his congressional deposition.

This week new reporting confirms President Biden’s aides took unauthorized executive actions during his presidency amid his cognitive decline. It’s no surprise that Anthony Bernal is pleading the Fifth Amendment to shield himself from criminal liability.

During his deposition today, Mr. Bernal pleaded the Fifth when asked if any unelected official or family members executed the duties of the President and if Joe Biden ever instructed him to lie about his health. This is a historic scandal and Americans demand transparency and accountability. We will continue to pursue the truth on their behalf and examine options to get the answers we need.
