Harden Up Volume the 2nd

Harden Up Volume the 2nd

A while back I wrote an article about how to make yourself a hard target. I titled it Harden Up and in it I discussed a variety of ways to make yourself a hard target. Given the current environment, I thought it would be a good idea to re-up that article and several others that I have written about self/home defense here at MVAP.

As I re-read the original I find that I would change some of my advice. I initially advised that you just walk away. I still hold to that mostly. When would I not? In any situation where your actions/reactions could save someone else’s life. I do not leave my house unarmed. The only time I do not have a firearm on my person is when I have to be inside a government building where carry is prohibited. If I run into a situation where my intervention could prevent deaths or serious injuries of innocents, I’m stepping in. If it’s just me, I’m walking away.

I also initially advised you to not talk to the cops. I will amend that some. Be the first to call 911 for them, but do not talk to them without your attorney present. Getting out in front of a situation in this manner can help you set the narrative, and that can mean the difference between being charged and not being charged.

There are also some new less lethal options out there that look promising. The Byrna launcher can be an effective solution. I’ve been shot with the kinetic rounds from a Byrna and well, it sucked. Would it stop me if I was hell bent on causing you harm? I dunno for sure, but I kinda doubt it. It hurt, badly, but not enough to incapacitate me. I’m guessing the pepper spray and chemical mace rounds are probably more effective.

I have also written extensively about training. I stick by what I wrote in that one. The fact is, you NEED to train. Regularly. I know, ammo is still expensive. Dry fire is a thing however. So are training aids like MantisX, LaserLyte and Strikeman. For example, it doesn’t cost anything to stand in front of a mirror and practice your draw.

I also wrote a series of articles under the titles of Stay Frosty. I’ll link to the last one I wrote here, it has the links to all the previous editions. They all covered some incident or news item related to terror attacks and/or mass casualty events.

Well, that particular landscape has changed. While there is still – and likely always will be – a threat of Islamic terror here in the US, the primary driver of terror/mass casualty events are leftists. Quite a few shootings in the past few years are autoparts related. Trans people have taken it upon themselves to shoot up three schools, at least one night club and several other locations recently. It seems that there is an agenda at play here and we need to be prepared to react to it.

This is all to say it’s probably time for you to review your plans and update/upgrade your training. Take a look through the posts I’ve written about the subject. Take what seems good to you and expand on it. Seek out other sites and training methods and again, take what seems good to you. My experience is not yours. I have biases due to my level of training and experiences that color my choices on things.

It’s pretty clear to me that we, the right thinking part of the population, are under attack. It’s up to us to protect our communities.
