Random News and Notes 10 August

I don’t know how I missed this one, but a comment from Howley/RPD yesterday made me go looking.

Astronaut Jim Lovell, the commander of the ill-fated Apollo 13 moon mission, died Thursday at 97. Lovell, a former Navy test pilot, flew for some 715 hours in space, the most of any astronaut in the pioneering Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs forged by the United States as it vied with the Soviet Union to put a man on the moon by the end of the 1960s.

He took part in two Gemini missions that orbited Earth and was one of the three astronauts aboard Apollo 8, the first spaceflight to orbit the moon, before he was chosen by NASA for Apollo 13.

. . . missions. Heartfelt condolences to Jim’s family. Farewell Jim. You will be missed, my friend. Godspeed!

Requiescat in Pace.

I have mentioned before how much I like the way this administration is dealing with the MSM and the press in general. Here’s another prime example.

LOL, LMAO even.

It seems the President is taking the assault on Big Balls personally. He already announced a federal law enforcement surge into the District. Then there is this:

. . . millions pouring in, to ZERO in the last few months. This will be easier — Be prepared! There will be no “MR. NICE GUY.” We want our Capital BACK.

I’m going to withhold judgement until I see the plan for moving the homeless out of DC. I’ll be watching the presser come Monday to find out more.

Pray for our compatriots in the Milwaukee area. They have gotten biblical amounts of rain in the last 24 hours.

More rain is headed into the area as I write. The flooding has been catastrophic. The Wisconsin state fair closed early yesterday because of the rains.

Before any of the climate grifters on the left get their panties in a wad, this kind of flooding, while uncommon, is not unheard of in that area. The most recent major flooding that I could find evidence of (quickly) was back in 1986, where even more rain fell in a 24 hour period.
