Random News and Notes 12 October

We start off with a housekeeping note. Photos of the Week will be on hiatus until the Schumer Shutdown is over (and probably a week or two after) because all of the US gov sites are not being updated. I had hoped to be able to find alternate sources for images like individual unit Twitter or Facebook accounts, but it seems a directive came down about not updating those as well.

This is really irritating because the official Navy Birthday is Monday. Don’t worry squids, there is already a piece ready to celebrate the 250th. Stay tuned for that and the Corps birthday in November.

A privately owned Bell 222 – think Airwolf – crashed in Huntington Beach CA yesterday. 5 people were injured, but no one was killed. From the video I have seen, it is readily apparent that the tail rotor had some sort of failure. In the video below, you can see part of the tail rotor assembly land in the parking lot.

The Helo was there as part of a ‘Cars and Copters’ event.

JD Vance was on with George Snuffleupagus this morning. It did not go well for the former Clinton aide. In fact, it was so bad he had to cut the feed. Watch:

. . . Vice President of the United States about this story regarding Tom Homan, a story that I’ve read about, but I don’t even know the video that you’re talking about. Meanwhile, low-income women can’t get food because the Democrats and Chuck Schumer have shut down the government!”
“You are focused on a BOGUS story. You’re insinuating criminal wrongdoing against a guy who has done nothing wrong instead of focusing on the fact that our country is struggling because our government’s shut down! Let’s talk about the real issues, George.”
“I think the American people would benefit much more from that than from you going down some weird left-wing rabbit hole where the facts clearly show that Tom Homan didn’t engage in any criminal wrongdoing.” GEORGE: “It’s not a weird left-wing rabbit hole! I didn’t insinuate anything. I asked you whether Tom Homan accepted $50,000 as was heard on an audio tape recorded by the FBI in September 2024, and you did not answer the question. Thank you for your time this morning.”
VANCE: “No, George, I said-”
GEORGE: “We’ll be right back.”

The look on George’s face was priceless. He knows he got cooked. He knows he looked like a weak fool for cutting the feed. Yet he still did it.

There is new polling out in Virginia. It looks to be good news for the Republicans in the races. Trafalgar found in the first poll since the Jay Jones scandal broke that incumbent Jason Miyares surging ahead in the AG race.

. . .Jay Jones 43% (-6)

The poll also shows increasing support for Winsome Earle Sears and Lt Gov candidate John Reid. If you or someone you know live in VA, get out to vote.
