Random News and Notes 19 October.

The Ceasefire in Gaza is over. Hamas fired an anti-tank missile at IDF troops working to dismantle Hamas terror infrastructure in Rafah. The Israelis responded. Forcefully.

. . . “Yellow Line” into Israeli-controlled territory and attacked IDF forces in multiple locations including with a sniper and with an RPG. According to Axios, Israel informed Washington in advance of the operation. Israeli officials say Hamas’s blatant violations have nullified the ceasefire agreement and granted Israel full legitimacy to resume military operations.
The escalation comes amid growing frustration with Hamas’s manipulation of diplomatic efforts, including President Trump’s 20-point peace plan, which required Hamas to disarm and relinquish control of Gaza. Instead, Hamas divided the plan into phases to stall, regroup, and eliminate internal rivals—strengthening its control over roughly 47% of Gaza. Since Israel withdrew from certain territories, they’ve been mass executing their own people for “collaborating” with Israel. Intelligence sources say the Hamas–Turkey–Qatar alliance has been working to suppress potential non-Islamist leadership alternatives, while the U.S. and Israel push for a post-Hamas administration. With Hamas openly rejecting the disarmament clause and violating ceasefire terms, senior Israeli officials say a return to full-scale war aimed at dismantling Hamas’s infrastructure is likely imminent.

I told you yesterday that Hamas was trying to consolidate their position in the Strip, so I was not surprised to learn they escalated to shooting at the Israelis again. It is going to be bad for them this time. The IDF released this statement earlier today.

Earlier today, terrorists fired an anti-tank missile and gunfire toward IDF troops operating to dismantle terrorist infrastructure in the Rafah area, in southern Gaza, in accordance with the ceasefire agreement.
In response, the IDF has begun striking in the area to eliminate the threat and dismantle tunnel shafts and military structures used for terrorist activity.
These terrorist actions constitute a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement, and the IDF will respond firmly.

VP JD Vance was at Camp Pendleton yesterday for events commemorating the upcoming 250th birthday of the Marine Corps. While there he watched a combined arms live fire during an amphibious beach crossing exercise.

He also spoke to the Marines. They loved it.

There was a daylight robbery at the Louvre in Paris today. The thieves, dressed as workers, cut through a window to steal jewels supposedly related to Napoleon.

. . .Nine historic jewellery pieces, allegedly linked to Napoleon and Joséphine, were stolen — including tiaras and brooches.
The gang entered through a service area near the Seine and fled on scooters toward the A6 motorway.
The operation was “highly organized,” with no injuries reported. France’s Culture Minister confirmed the robbery.
The museum remains closed, and police are investigating. It is not yet clear whether any other artworks were affected — including the Mona Lisa.

Who was guarding the building? Inspector Clouseau? Also, where are they going to dispose of the jewels? It isn’t like these are some random loose diamonds or whatever. These are well known pieces. Who would touch them?

In an example of Oh look, if it isn’t the consequences of my actions a rioter in LA was seemingly run over by an LAPD cruiser. I say seemingly because it is not clear if he was actually run over or not.

Regardless, it’s his own fault and he deserves everything that happened to him.
