Random News and Notes 26 October

Today we wish someone a Happy Birthday. Some of you – the more terminally online – will already know who I am writing about. For those who don’t, stick with me, the payoff is more than worth it. You’ll find out who the birthday girl is a bit later on. Now, News!

It is the 26th day of the Schumer Shutdown. Despite that, there is some ‘good’ news coming out because of it. It seems BASE jumping has returned to Yosemite National Park.

BASE – which stands for Building, Aerial, Span and Earth, jumping is illegal in all National Parks. Yosemite Head Killjoy, err, Superintendent Raymond McPadden said “We do not tolerate illegal activity in Yosemite National Park.” At least three individuals have been convicted in connection with BASE jumping activity inside the park since the shutdown began. They face a $5000 fine and up to 6 months in jail.

Frankly, we need more of this type of civil disobedience and less of the riots and TDS afflicted protests we are seeing in Portland, Chiraq and other major Dem cities.

And full disclosure, your Editor has BASE jumped in the past. Just not in Yosemite.

The Department of Justice will be sending election observers to California and New Jersey for the upcoming elections. At this time, the Department will monitor the following jurisdictions:

  • Los Angeles County, California
  • Passaic County, New Jersey
  • Kern County, California
  • Riverside County, California
  • Fresno County, California
  • Orange County, California

The deployment of monitors is something that the Civil Rights Division has done regularly.

President Trump is in Malaysia this weekend. While there, he signed a trade deal with Malaysia. He also got a peace deal done between Thailand and Cambodia.

The Thais and Khmer have been beefing over a small strip of land that contains the Preah Vihear temple, a ancient Buddhist temple. The conflict has been going on since the 1950s. The issue stems from a map (badly) drawn by French colonial officials in the immediate post WWII era.

Now. on to our Birthday celebrations. Anyone remember this gem?

Yup, it’s Kankles the angry clown’s birthday. Killary turns 78 this year. And she’s making noises that she is going to run for President again in ’28. At 80.
