Random News and Notes 7 October

Today is the 2nd anniversary of the brutal and unprovoked attacks on southern Israel by the subhuman filth of Hamas. The attacks were a series of coordinated armed incursions from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel, carried out by Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups during the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah. This event, often referred to as “Black Saturday” or the “Simchat Torah Massacre” in Israel, marked the deadliest day in the country’s history, with significant loss of life and widespread destruction. The attacks targeted civilian and military sites prompting a strong military response from Israel, which escalated into a broader conflict in the region.

A total of 1,195 people were killed, including 736 Israeli civilians (among them 38 children), 79 foreign nationals, and 379 members of the security forces. Additionally, about 250 Israeli civilians and soldiers were taken hostage to the Gaza Strip. The attacks also left over 3,400 wounded. There are some 47 hostages still being held in Gaza. It is believed that 25 of those are dead.

May their memory be a blessing.

Staying in the region, Hamas has rejected a key provision of the Trump peace plan. Hamas refuses to commit to disarming. Without disarmament, nothing changes except Hamas gets to refit and rearm.

I’m going to digress for a minute here and say some things some of you might not like. The hyper optimistic bullshit – that is what it was and is – that Trump was spouting about his peace plan made zero sense given the fact that Hamas has rejected every single deal they were offered since they came to power in Gaza in 2007. EVERY. SINGLE. DEAL. And now we’re supposed to believe that they would accept this one because Trump proposed it? Hell nah.

Need an exemplar? Just look back a few weeks to his summit with Putin. He left that meeting saying he ended the Ukraine war only to have Putin yank the football away. Do I think he can’t make deals? No, I’m pretty sure he can, and do it well. What he needs to do is stop huffing his own farts over them. Announce the deal, take credit and shut the fuck up.

Anyway, I have hopes that at least the remaining hostages will be returned. The rest? Gaza should be dust and rubble, everything else is noise. I don’t often agree with John Fetterman but I certainly do here:

On to some domestic news.

Dem Ron Wyden is the senior senator from Oregon. He also seems to be functionally retarded, but that is another story. Wyden took aim at a couple of independent journalists covering the AntiFa insurrection in Portland, Katie Daviscourt and  CK Bouferrache.

Wyden is a tool bag. Several people, including those he tried to smear, took offense and put him in his place, notably Andy Ngo. Ngo has been covering AntiFa in the PNW since the days of the Based Stickman back in the early 2010s.

. . . Antifa’s slander by dismissing them as “right-wing influencers.” You and your family are a disgrace.

Family mention aside, Andy is spot on here. None of the outlets Wyden mentioned have reported on the continual assaults on federal facilities in Portland.
