Random News and Notes 11 November

Today is Veterans Day here in the US. It is Armistice Day (or Remembrance Day) in the former British Commonwealth countries as well as France and the Low Countries. It marks the end of World War One. The armistice that ended that conflict was signed at 11:11 on 11 November 1918.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
        In Flanders fields.

In Flanders Fields by John McCrae

Lest we forget. . .

Now on to the news.

Female Olympic athletes got some good news. They will no longer be competing against biological males. A change in IOC leadership prompted the change.

It took them long enough. Better late than never. . .

A bridge in China has collapsed just months after it was completed and opened to traffic. The Hongqi bridge near Maerkang in China’s Sichuan province started showing signs of damage after the terrain in the area shifted. Local police closed the bridge, on a major highway into Tibet, on Monday when large cracks appeared in the structure.

Cue the made in China jokes.

In the I did not see that one coming category we have this story out of New Hampshire. The ‘historic’ first tranny state legislator in the Granite State, Barry (“Stacie-Marie”) Laughton, has pled guilty to charges of child sex crimes.

Charging documents said Laughton and former partner Lindsay Groves exchanged more than 10,000 texts and graphic images of children who were in Groves’ care at the Massachusetts daycare. Groves pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of children and distribution of child pornography in federal court back in September.

. . . to 30 years in prison.
He was previously forced to resign twice from the New Hampshire House for three felony convictions for credit card fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud.

I hope you all caught the sarcasm in the first sentence of this segment. Regardless, Stacie-Marie is gonna be real popular in prison. Chomos get very special treatment there.

Hopefully all my brethren in arms got their free breakfasts or coffee or whatever this morning. If you didn’t, there are plenty of places that are offering freebies for lunch and dinner. Applebee’s, Chilis, In-N-Out and most of the other major chains offer free or discounted meals. Don’t sleep on your local eateries either. WeAreThe Mighty have put together the most comprehensive list of free stuff I’ve seen, so if you want to know who’s giving away what, check the list out HERE.

Just dudes being bros. . .
