Random News and Notes 26 December

We start today’s RNN off over in Belgium. Bastogne to be exact, where on this date in 1944 elements of George Patton’s 3rd Army made contact with the Battlin’ Bastards of Bastogne. Arriving from the direction of Assenois, southwest of Bastogne, the spearhead reached the lines of the 326th Engineers on 26 December.

Cobra King, a Sherman Jumbo of Company C of the 37th Tank Battalion of the American 4th Armored Division, was the first tank to make contact at approximately 16:50 on the 26th. Cobra King’s commander was Lieutenant Charles Boggess, heading a crew of Hubert S. Smith (driver), Harold Hafner (co-driver), Milton Jafet (gunner), and James G. Murphy (loader).

Also happening on this day in history, the USSR officially dissolved. Gorbachev had resigned the day before, but the Soviet flag was lowered for the final time on the 26th of December 1991.

The US hit a bunch of daesh sites in Northwestern Nigeria on Christmas day. Nigeria has been the central point of numerous atrocities committed against Christians by the islamist scum.

While it is unclear – at least to this editor – where the authority to carry out these strikes comes from, they are generally a good thing.

The Kangaroo government is about to trample on some more of their citizens rights. A new package of anti-gun and anti-speech laws is making it’s was through Parliament. The Premier of New South Wales claims speech restrictions are necessary to promote “multiculturalism”.

Does anyone understand what that idiot is trying to say?
