Random News and Notes 6 December
Paul Campo was a high ranking DEA official during the Obama (mal)administration. Campo worked for the agency for about 25 years, starting as a special agent in New York and eventually rising to become the deputy chief of the office of financial operations. He has been indicted for laundering some $12 million for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, or CJNG.
According to the indictment, Campo laundered the money and made payments for some 220 kilos of cocaine that had been smuggled into the US.
Makes you wonder: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
In other legal news, SCOTUS has granted certiorari in Trump v Barbera, a case that could end birthright citizenship.
The circumstances surrounding this grant of cert are a bit extraordinary. The Supremes have agreed to hear this case before the appellate process has run its course. Oral arguments will likely be set for June or July with the opinion coming down at the very end of the term.
It isn’t just the Navy interdicting drug smugglers. A Coast Guard station Miami Beach crew sized 3716 pounds of coke from a nice looking sportfisher just off the Government Cut in South Florida.
“This was the largest USCG Small boat station cocaine seizure since 1995,” said Lt. Matthew Ross, Coast Guard Station Miami Beach commanding officer. Read the whole story HERE.
Not for nothing, but I wonder how long it will take for that boat to head to auction and what it will go for.
Back in November the head of the New Orleans PD, Anne Kirkpatrick falsely claimed immigration violations were civil in nature and the NOPD wouldn’t be enforcing civil law. Well, the Attorney General of Louisiana, Liz Murrill, didn’t take too kindly to that proclamation. You see, back in 2024, the state passed anti-sanctuary city laws and Superintendent Kirkpatrick’s stance violates that law. Murrill sent notice to the city and the PD that they don’t have a choice and need to start cooperating with ICE and DHS immediately.
Some of you will remember Kirkpatrick because her incompetent ass got fired as chief of police in Oakland CA of all places. Others will remember her for hitting a pedestrian with her cruiser in 2024 or her extremely poor reaction to the New Years Eve terror attack.
Newly sworn congresscritter Adelita Grijalva decided it was a good idea to impede ICE operations in Tucson yesterday. She then ran to SocMed and lied about being pepper sprayed.
I’m sorry, this is not part of her duties, it is not ‘constituent services’, it is not protected by the speech and debate clause. Grijalva stirred up a mob and got two ICE agents – serving warrants – hurt.
She needs to be treated the same way that retard from New Jersey – LaMonica McIver – is being treated; with felony charges for obstruction.
